There certainly is beauty in that cold scene 🙂
Restores the soul! 🙂 Thanks, Anne.
I never comment on your posts that are either Silent (Sunday) or Wordless (Wednesday), but wanted to mention that I used your posts as examples of what I want to do on my own blog, at least for Sunday. https://tonytomeo.com/2024/12/14/cutting-back/
Thank you, Tony!
You are welcome, but commenting here is not exactly silent.
Love the way the river meanders. It leads the eye.
Thank you, Sandy. Our trail follows the river to just beyond the bend, then heads up towards the waterfall. A nice walk.
Looks lovely!
Been walking it for 34 years and never tire of it!
That is so pretty. It reminds me of a place near my house.
Thank you, Dale. Walks like this restore the soul. 🙂
That they do! I’m due for a good walk. It’s been cold and I have to reacclimatise!
Stunning.
Thank you, Alys! 🙏🏼
Ooh, that’s chilly looking Eliza…as I sit here in 35C heat. I’m jealous, I’ll swap you a few degree’s. Nice picture, thank you 🤗❤️🙏
Thank you, Mark. I love thinking that there is summer somewhere. 🙂 But winter here isn’t so bad, milder than a lot of places.
That’s mild? Eeek…we don’t even see snow off on some distant mountain somewhere. Cold to us is when it gets below 8C 🤣❤️🙏
One adjusts to it, and of course, maximum clothing is essential!
Haha, I bet. But it would be an adventure regardless 🤣❤️🙏
It looks very peaceful and gorgeous there! I am envious😊. Kind regards, Jay
It truly is, 🙂 thanks, Jay!
Another peaceful and beautiful area…have you seen evidence of otters?
Yes, we do see them occasionally and their slides are evident in the snow. Thanks, Alice!
Love the clumps of snow on the rocks in the river…
Thank you, Barbara. New snow is the perfect adornment!
Lovely….it leads you on to become an explorer.
Thank you… A view I never tire of!
That’s how winter up there should look, at least some of the time.
I like a classic New England winter, but not TOO much snow. 🙂
The touch of red along the banks, the green trees, and the bit of blue in the sky makes a perfect setting for that perfect snow. How beautiful!
Thank you, Linda!
Winter wonderland, superb shot!
Thank you, Hien!
Beautiful photo, Eliza!
Thank you, Tina!
Brrrrrr!!!
Yes! Very cold this morning!
Here too! I guess its winter now.
Yup!
Winter! We had a few nights to the high 30’s and today it’s going to be near 80.
Oh, my. Very different from our low of 9º last night!
Such a lovely shot … but would you be miffed if I confess I’m glad you have it rather than me?!?
Not at all, I love where I live, just as you do. 🙂
Thanks, Debbie!
Nice composition!
Gracias, Maria!
De nada!
Very pretty! Does it freeze over at some point in the winter?
Thank you, Belinda. Yes, it can freeze over with just a small channel of fast water in the center. I remember one winter when the ice was a good foot deep. When it broke up there were huge chunks of it all over the banks.
If it has to be cold, at least you can enjoy the beauty around you!

Thank you, Kris, that I do! Last night’s low was 9º, so you can bet the walk this morning was a quick one!
Winter is a beautiful time of year, no doubt. Especially with snow, although I’m not complaining too much that we haven’t had much yet.

A lot of ours has melted, but there is always more coming… another inch tonight, they say.
Winter looks beautiful in your woods!!🙂
Thank you! I love walking along the river and through the woods. It settles me!
Brrrr
Yes, today was a bit challenging even for me. A warm up is forecast, so I think we’ll be losing the ice and snow again. The waterfall was a cathedral of ice this morning, glorious, but more rain in the forecast will melt it.
The river curves in a very pretty way. You have snow! Here’s it’s finally icy and chilly but the ground is bare.
We lost a lot of snow in Wednesday’s rain, but not all of it. I think the forecast for warmer days and more rain will melt the rest of it. And here I was hoping for a white Christmas. Foiled again!
The scene looks lovely to me. There seems to be a fair bit of snow? Is that normal for your area at the start of winter or are you in one of those locations that had a snow storm?
Thanks, Vicki. Gosh, what is ‘normal’ anymore? 😉
Generally, it can snow anytime from Oct. onwards, but it will likely melt. We got our first significant snow on Nov. 28, and again less than a week later. We’ve been having an inch or two since, along with rain. The warmer days will melt it down, so now it is a thin crust. Warm rain ahead will probably melt the rest, it looks like a snowy Christmas is unlikely.
Brrrrr! But boy, it sure is beautiful. I can practically hear nature in that scene.
Thanks, Monika. The river music is esp. nice. 🙂
That’s a beautiful wintery scene Eliza. Looks cold!
Thank you, Cathy. Not too cold, just right! 🙂
Lovely.
Thank you, Diana!
I feel the chill and the stillness. Lovely photo. We were at least 66F today and it felt springlike, but won’t last we’re told.
Thank you, Susie. We reached 48º and to us, that is March weather, ha! It’ll be much colder this weekend they tell us. Yo-yo weather!
I can feel that cold from here haha
Bracing, yes? 😀
Beautiful with the snow too Eliza.
Thank you, Agnes!
Stunning. A path I would like to wander (if I was as immune to cold water as, say, a wood duck!) Lovely scene.
Thank you, Adele. We used to wade upstream on a hot day when we were younger, but my knees won’t allow it now, alas.
