Silent Sunday – Cold Spell

Nature’s ice sculptures! Love this.
Thanks, Dale. I like the wavy ones on the left, more unusual than the typical ones like on the right.
Yes, me too!
Ooh Eliza, that is indeed a cold sentinel. But a delightful creation even in its…um…brrrr 🤗🤣❤️🙏
It takes a few days to build up like this, but a temp change today will break it down once again. Rain in the forecast!
Ah, each one unique…like a sunset. Then your winters ever have something to look forward to kind lady 🤗❤️🙏
What a beautiful shot!
Thank you, Ilze!
I was already cold, but loving those icicles…
I’m always fascinated by ice formations. 🙂
Me too, some of them are so extraordinary…
Definitely!
Cold and snowy here too, but I guess it is December in New England. 🙂
Yes, indeed. Very pretty out there right now, but I guess it will change yet again this week with a warm up and rain forecast.
Brrr! Wrap up warm Eliza! Looks pretty, but COLD!
It has been a nippy week, but after another 4″ of snow overnight (!), we’re in for a warm up today with rain forecast the next few days, so I expect all will melt until the next freeze up. The fluffy snow is so pretty and festive, I’ll miss it!
Wow!
Yes, it was a chilly week!
Frozen babbles/baubles. You received another 4″! We had at the most an inch & then a bare dusting.
The 3 snow storms have lasted on the ground since Thanksgiving. Nice and Christmasy. 🙂 Melting now, with a lot of rain this week!
This manages to convey the coldness brilliantly. Icicles topped with snow. I’m shivering just looking!!
Quite bracing, but I’ve been enjoying it. I bundle up for my walks. 🙂 Thanks, Allison.
That image made me shiver, but it’s quite beautiful. Stay warm. There’s a front moving in tonight so I think blankets and fur-beasts will be on the agenda this next week.
Thanks, Monika. I guess yo-yo weather is the norm with waves of warm and cold coming one behind the other. After last week’s cold, this coming is warming up again with a good amount of rain.
The variety of forms in this scene is fascinating. Icicles hanging from a roof are one thing; natural collections of snow and ice quite another.
Thank you, Linda. The wavy ribbons and round bobbles are somewhat unusual… fun to see.
Cold, indeed. I had to put on a coat just to look at it! 🙂 Stay warm, Eliza!
😀 Your comment made me laugh! Thanks, Tina.
Brr….This makes me shiver!
The walks have been brisk this week, no lingering! 🙂
Ice formations are always so interesting.
No two alike! 🙂
I wish I was an artist so I could paint them.
Oh my! So beautiful and yet so cold!
https://krispgarden.blogspot.com/
Bracing, ha! Thanks, Kris. 🙂
Well, the cold had to move in but it sure makes for some beautiful photography!
Yes, it certainly does. A warming trend this week will deconstruct the waterfall and we’ll get to start all over. 🙂
Brrr — I am NOT looking forward to this, Eliza. Yes, it’s pretty … from a window or as a photo. Being outside in it isn’t high on my list of fun things to do!
Oh, I love the crisp air, so refreshing. 🙂 Warm clothing and boots are a must however!
I’m looking forward to icy scenes like your pretty image. Time for me to explore my favorite local waterfall!
With the rain coming, your waterfall ought to be flowing well.
Wow that looks cold Eliza! May you all stay safe and warm 🧡 xxx
Thank you, Xenia. Not too extreme, normal winter weather here, a week of temps around or below freezing. However, a few nights were -10C. A warming trend starts today with a fair amount of rain forecast… we could use it, though I hope it doesn’t run off and doesn’t get into the ground. Always fretting, ha!
Winter’s beauty. Lovely photo.
Thank you, Rebecca. 🙂
So creative .. and early! Yikes 🥶
Yes, it was a chilly week! 🙂
I’ll send some summer heat for you ☀️ ☀️☀️
Ooh, nice… thanks, Karen! 🙂
Frosty wonders!
Yes, always something new to see. 🙂
Icy beauty to dazzle and sparkle!
Thank you, Barbara. I never tire of looking at what forms arise. 🙂
Ah, so lovely. I see from comments it might be thawed now. Frozen in our memories.
Yes, I just walked by there and it is all but gone. Ephemeral art!
So beautiful Eliza!
Thank you, Maria!
This is a really cool shot! How cold is it?
At the time of the shot, it was around 32F, with nights in the teens, great for ice build-up. We’re in a warm spell now, all the ice has melted and we’re expecting a lot of rain tomorrow. The temps will drop again on Thurs. We tend to get a lot of yo-yo weather!
Brrrrrrrr! Enjoy the break this week, but I see a little more on the way 🙂
Thank you, Frank. I’m glad for the rain, better than sleet/freezing rain in my book. I enjoyed seeing the ice, it’ll come again no doubt.
This looks amazing!
Thanks, the build up and melting process is fascinating, every day is different!
I love how this captures motion Eliza!!
Thank you, Catherine. All so ephemeral, gone now with the warm rain, but more will grow after Friday’s chill. 🙂
🙂
Woo hoo abstract ice!
🙂 That ice is gone, more building up this weekend. 🥶
Wonderful, love looking for and capturing ice formations!🙂
This morning the waterfall was glorious, so intricate and musical as the water continued to pass through the myriad of icicles. Nature astounds!
Cool capture … pun intended! 😀
Ha, yes! Thanks much!
