Silent Sunday – Windy Day
This entry was posted in Field Notes, My Photos and tagged autumn, nature photography, oak leaves, Silent Sunday, windy day. Bookmark the permalink.

Wow! And all those leaves landed between my house and my fence! 😉
LOL, I know what you mean! I always hope mine will blow into the woods. 😉
Yeah, no kidding. And it’s so funny because I said I would only rake up the leaves on my driveway and on that path to the backyard. Whatever remains on the lawn is staying there. There is almost nothing left on my lawn! 10 bags later…
Your back and arms must be aching!
Actually and surprisingly, no. Because I clear out only what is there. The first time was four bags. The second another four. Back when I would clear out the lot, it would be 8-12 bags in one shot! Nope, not anymore!
‘Work smarter, not harder’ as they say! 😉
That’s my motto! 😉
Nature in movement ☘️🍂🌿
So fun when they all let loose at once! 🙂
A beautiful capture, Eliza!
Thank you, Anne!
totally amazing, Eliza…
A VERY windy day… thanks, J&A!
💖
Wow, what a fabulous capture Eliza! 🧡🍂 xxx
Thank you, Xenia. What a blustery day!
Wonderful photograph Eliza
Thank you, Karina!
Good thing we have gravity on Earth, or it would always look like this!
Ha, you’re right! Another thing to be thankful for. 🙂
Perfect explanation of raining leaves. 🙂
🙂 Thanks, Judy!
The stiff oak leaves just act like sails. We’ve had quite a flurry of them here as well…. the precursor to the white stuff!
Yes, we’re heading in that direction. I already miss the gentle rustling of green leaves though. 🙂
Wow! Great shot—I can feel the whirlwind.
Thanks, Ellen. It is a fun phenomenon when they let loose all at once!
Beautiful evidence of more than a gentle breeze. The even spacing is amazing.
Some mornings after a still, frosty night, the warmth of the rising sun and with a gusty breeze, they all let loose at once. Pretty amazing to watch!
Pweety 😆😃
🙂 Thanks, Dawn!
Pleasure!!!!
Thanks, Dawn!
I love that you can see the leaf shapes so clearly!
Thank you, Allison. I had to up the shutter speed. 🙂
Terrific capture, Eliza!👏🏻
Thank you, Jane. I love moments like that!
Oh gosh…hope that wasn’t a freshly raked pile of leaves!
Ha, no, but I’m not one to rake my lawn anyway. Between the wind and my lawnmower getting the remnants, it gets done.
Was rain coming?
Not much, we’ve been pretty dry for months. A cold night followed by a warm morning sun and wind seemed to be the trigger.
Whoa! That’s a lot of leaves in the air. I once drove by a father and son that had raked up a pile of leaves and at that moment the wind came and blew them all up. The duo just stood there watching their hard work blowing away.
Oh, Mother Nature was playing with them! Luckily, with the slope of our yard, the winds send most of the leaves into the field. The remainders get mowed. 🍁🍂
It seems as soon as November arrives so do the winds 😏
Yes, rains next??
Oh my! I thought those were birds at first glance. The winds have whipped up here today too but I haven’t witnessed flying clouds of debris, at least not yet.

I love the swirling magic of leaves in the fall, they mesmerize me!
We’ve had a LOT of those windy days! I tried to capture a video of them, but it pales to how pretty they are when you look at them with your own two eyes!
Magical moments! 🍁 🍂
What a great capture, Eliza!
Thank you, Susie. Lots of naked trees now, their finery gone with the wind. 🙂
Looks like we’re enjoying the same weather!! You really captured the wind in your photo.
Thank you, Maria. The leaves are shedding fast, not many left. Gray November, here we come. 😉
Wow! It must have been like being in an autumn ‘snow’ globe.
Yes, it was… great analogy! And what a great idea for producing a different seasonal globe. 🙂
Wow, great photo, and it looks similar to recent scenes around here. 🙂

Thanks, Beth!
Oh my gosh – and I thought it was windy here!
We often get some gusty winds here, 20-30 mph, it’s the storms bringing 40-50mph that I fear. We have lots of old trees that can break in those winds.
Wind is pretty much a constant here and is often buffeting and gusting, but seldom is a chilly as the winds I imagine you get in winter storms! I need to convert the mph to kph – but 40 to 50 mph sounds fearsome!
Lovely!
Thank you!
