We have had many days like that this winter. But this week the sun is in full force. I hope the gray breaks soon!

  2. Oh, yes! So moody in its monotones. Northern woman that I am, I love it.

  3. Anne's avatar Anne says:

    It looks peacefully gray.

  4. Su's avatar Su says:

Most days are like that here in MN winter. But we don’t have any snow due to a weird January thaw.

  5. Dawn Minott's avatar Dawn Minott says:

That’s still a lot of snow. Wow 😯

  6. Joanne's avatar Joanne says:

Even grey, the landscape is beautiful. 😊

  7. Stillness… Lovely, moody, cloudy gray. So peaceful…

  8. Alice's avatar Alice says:

….but your artistic eye makes the landscape gorgeous!

  9. In MN, we’re having the cloudiest winter ever. Warmer (40s in January?!?) and the tiny bit of snow is gone. Worrying.

    • Eliza Waters's avatar Eliza Waters says:

I know, doesn’t seem like winter without the cold and snow on the ground. We have about 3-4″ left from the last storm. I’m grateful that the ground has some of an insulating blanket.

I often enjoy your ice and snow photos, but this one feels a little bleak. Of course, I remember what it was like to live in a place where, when winter dragged on and February and March blizzards arrived, we all could feel a little bleak!

  11. Cathy's avatar Cathy says:

Very atmospheric. Still, I hope you get some sunshine soon Eliza. Grey here today too. ☀️☀️☀️

  12. seems we seeing similar winter days…🙂❤️

  13. Tina's avatar Tina says:

It is grey, but you’ve caught the simplicity of color beautifully–well done, Eliza!

  14. Dale's avatar Dale says:

You manage to make grey look beautiful.
We had so many of them in January, didn’t we?

    • Eliza Waters's avatar Eliza Waters says:

Thank you, Dale. Relentless, it seems. This weekend seems to have a break coming.

      • Dale's avatar Dale says:

Yes. That is the perfect word. Even the days where they call for “partial sun” were often not to be. I would love to know how much sunlight we actually did get. Apparently, partial sun starting Friday and going through till Sunday but lo! Full sun is showing for Monday… we shall wait and see…

      • Eliza Waters's avatar Eliza Waters says:

Yeah, those ‘partial sun’ teasers are the worst, dashing our hopes! Fingers crossed we’ll get a break this weekend! 🤞🏼

      • Dale's avatar Dale says:

Today is such a uniform grey. Blech.
        And yes, fingers crossed!!

  15. Kymber @booomcha's avatar Kymber Hawke says:

Very pretty! I love the snow.

  16. neihtn2012's avatar neihtn2012 says:

    Gray and cold, and beautiful!

  17. Debbie's avatar Debbie says:

Eliza, this looks eerily like what we’re seeing this month, minus all the snow, of course. You know, I can stand the cold, but I truly prefer having the sun out and blazing! I think it must be the El Nino affect. You’ve captured a peaceful scene, but oh boy, am I looking forward to Spring!

  18. I love the bare trees and those gorgeous clouds.

  19. krispeterson100's avatar krispeterson100 says:

That’s very gray but also very dramatic.

  20. I see a vast, beautiful winter wonderland! ❤️ Is this your backyard, Eliza?

  21. Robin's avatar Robin says:

It looks very dramatic and beautiful. We’ve had a lot of gray days lately caused by the marine layer (coming off the ocean). I think I see a patch of blue sky out the window now. 🙂

  22. The conditions do make for fine photography! A bit more sunshine would be nice though 😏

  23. Karen Lang's avatar Karen Lang says:

    Still looks beautiful 💕

  24. Lovely photo, and while I appreciate these peaceful gray days let’s hope February brings us a little more sunshine and fluffy snow.😎

    • Eliza Waters's avatar Eliza Waters says:

      Amen to that! Thanks much.
I just watched the sunrise through a band of light clouds, a fiery orange, which is now gone, but its memory lingers. Two more cloudy days, then the promise of a sunny weekend. 🤞🏼

  25. A soothing landscape.

  26. greendreamsswe's avatar Maria says:

We’ve had quite a few of these days this season 🙂

    • Eliza Waters's avatar Eliza Waters says:

Very ‘winter’ all around, it seems. We haven’t had a full day of sun since Jan. 12, can you imagine? But starting tomorrow, it is going to be sunny for FOUR days, it will be a happy shock!

  27. Pepper's avatar Pepper says:

Lovely shades of gray. I am trying to send some sunshine over your way. 😉

  28. We’ve had more than our share of gray days. Today was exciting though. Our first day in ages when we produced more solar energy than we used. Brighter days are coming.

  29. Such a beautiful photograph of a lovely spot.

  30. Nothing says winter like a gray day + snow! Nice wintry landscape!
