What a wonderful name!
IKR? I wonder who first came up with that name?
Someone with a fanciful mind, which is right up my alley. 😉
I vaguely remembered dryads, and when I looked up the word to find out what they are (“a nymph inhabiting a forest or a tree, especially an oak tree”) I just laughed. Hordes of dryads, saddling up and galloping across the land!
It’s a funny name for sure! 😉
Cool shot, Eliza. 🙂
Thank you, Jane. 🍄🧡🍂
Great photo.
Thanks, Cindy!
An unusual sight – for me at least.
With our excessive rain this past summer, mushrooms are popping up everywhere!
I think all fungi are amazing, Eliza… and these magnificent specimens prove my point…
Thank you, they were quite large!
Magnificent!
Another example of Mother Nature’s art work. 🙂
Yes, they struck me that way, too. 🍄
Fascinating, how fungi appear…and fun to look up and learn more. Have you cooked them?
No, sadly, I’m not a big mushroom fan, but I’m trying to add them to my cooking because I’ve read how healthful many are. Store bought because I don’t trust my ID abilities!
Fresh button mushrooms on salads, or add to stews, soups, spaghetti sauces, or cook, before putting on pizzas. I haven’t been an adventurous mushroom buyer…but should try more.
We mostly buy shitake… they make a delicious mushroom soup made with beef broth. Simmer and then process in blender ’til smooth. I chopped them small and added to a beef stew I made last night. I don’t like the texture, so I cut them small, lol!
Very interesting shot! Just imagine gnomish creatures sitting on those saddles looking at the world go by.
🙂 Thanks, Hien!
Awesome shot Eliza!!!!
Thank you, Dawn! Lots of mushrooms this year. 🍄🧡
I see that. Is that because there’s more moisture?
Yes, they don’t like dry conditions.
Got it

or chipmunks! 😀
Nature is so interesting.
Truly!
I love finding these in the woods.😊
It’s like finding a monument or something! 😉
A fungi ladder. So cool!
Thank you, Sandy. They really made a statement!
Neat!
🙂 Thanks, Kris!
One of my favorite shrooms. Nice bunch of them, Eliza. They look great from above.
Thanks, Steve. These were too high up for me to get a top shot, but yours are so beautiful, esp. with the gill-over-the-ground.
High-rise appartments for the wee folk. 😀
🙂 Nice digs, for sure!
Forest magic!
Yes! 🙂
Ooooh… so that is what they are called! I have some similar shots (I know nothing about ‘shrooms!)
Lovely shot, Eliza.
Thank you, Dale, my son ID’d them for me. Not an subject that I know much about either. 😉
Now we are both smarter thanks to your son 🙂
Borrowed knowledge, hehe. 😉
Spread the knowledge! 😉
👍🏼
You’ve shown at least three triads of dryads.
🙂
