Oh, those dark clouds coming in.
Yes, quite dramatic at that elevation, scary lightning! Luckily, the storm skirted to the south.
There will be rain…
Yes, out West rain is needed. Though this storm missed us that day.
🌧🌧
Wow!
🙂 Thanks, Sheree.
What a dramatic photograph this is.
Thank you, Anne. Luckily, the storm didn’t come our way.
So quiet…Heavy clouds…did you get a lot of rain? Three days of rain, here (south of Boston) because of Ophelia.
This storm was full of lightning and it poured, but away from us.
It has been drizzly here in wMA, but no deluges thankfully.
Developing mammatus clouds — a sure sign of a little something brewing!
For sure, big claps of thunder and lightning! Luckily, it stayed over there and not on us. 🙂
A beautiful, stormy view, Eliza! It reminds me a lot of my Michigan woods.
Thanks, John. Drama in nature!
You’re welcome. 😊
So jealous of your rain.
Hope you get relief soon!
Approaching storms make such beautiful images!
They do indeed, I love the roiling clouds. 🙂
Me too!
I love to watch a storm blow in with the lightning and crackling as long as it is not a hurricane.
It was pretty cool to watch and passed miles from us, fortunately!
A dramatic, gorgeous photo! Did you get wet? 🙂
Thank you, Tina. We only got a sprinkle, then a brief shower on the way home. 🙂
another favorite for me! thank you michele
Thanks, Michele, glad you liked it. I fell in love with those high mountain meadows.
Nothing quite like a good storm now and then! It has a nice way of clearing out the crud or something, don’t you think?
It does freshen the air and settle the dust, that’s for sure.
That’s an impressive looking storm, exciting to anticipate even if it didn’t come your way!
Yes, I was watching it very closely. Last thing I wanted was to get stuck out in the middle of a lightning storm at that elevation!
Beautiful photo of a gathering storm.
Thank you, Belinda. It was cool watching it form over the span of a couple hours from blue to dark and threatening.
The magical Sierra Nevadas. For a short while when I was pregnant with Miss H and during her first months of life we leased an 80 acres farm on the other side of the Sierras, bordering to Eldorado National Forest. Mostly it was just H, me, and the animals there, one of the best times of my life.
It is beautiful country that is for sure. But I’ll skip the winters, ha!
Even with scary thunder, I’m always happy to see clouds like those.
I can imagine so, Kris. It dumped a nice amount over Truckee, we only got the tail end as we returned.
What beautiful layers! A wonderful image, Eliza.
Thank you very much!
Those clouds look ominous Eliza!
They were crackling with lightning and thunder, ominous indeed!
😲
Now that is a sky that I could sit and watch! (As long as shelter wasn’t too far away 🙂 )
Yes, I was thinking in the back of my mind about how far back it was to the truck!
I would lie down in that field and watch and wait. If weather came, I would seek shelter under one of those trees. Makes me think of the book, The Sheltering Sky. Beautiful!
Thank you, Bela! It was quite beautiful out there, love those high mountain, sage-filled meadows.
Such a beautiful image!
Thank you, Rebecca! I loved those high meadows.
I really like this photo because it looks a lot like our incoming storm yesterday, not far from the Sierras. The golden grass in contrast with the purple sky is really stunning.
Thank you, Jet… CA has such great beauty!
