How cool is that?! What a terrific capture.
Thank you, Monika. She was a lovely thing to behold!
WOW! Incredible.
She was a cooperative subject, too. 🙂
Oh that’s a pretty little bug!
Thank you, Denzil!
Such unique colours! Excellent photos Eliza.
Thank you, Maria!
Beautiful, it would make a lovely brooch.
Thank you, Liz. I am enamored of insects with a metallic sheen.
Speaking of brooches, Mayan men give their betrothed mayech beetles adorned with jewels (rhinestones) attached to a chain which is pinned over her heart… sadly, it isn’t a great life for the beetle.
Beautiful colours
Thank you, Sheree, she is well-named!

Not something I ever say, but what a dazzling bug! Fabulous shots!!
Thank you, she was a lovely subject!
What a beautiful little bug!
She was very cooperative during her photoshoot, too! 🙂
Beautiful armor on that little guy. 😊
Agreed, such a pretty one. Thanks, Pepper!
Beautiful scarab! I have yet to see one where we are, but maybe, one of these days!
Thank you, Hien! They are apparently quite common, but I don’t remember seeing one before. Perhaps they are largely nocturnal?
Nice rainbow colors. Is it a gardener’s friend or foe?
A friend, I am happy to report!
What a gem! Really liked these close-ups, Eliza, of this beauty. Another magical moment in your garden, and much appreciated.
Thank you, Jet. I thought so too. I had a nice visit with her before I put her somewhere safe… she was very cooperative!
What is this little monster … and is it friendly to your garden? It reminds me of our Japanese beetles with all that iridescence, and we know how destructive those things are!
No, this is a friend, its job is cleaning up other animal’s messes!
Intriguing beetle! Look at those pincers. What is the orange on each side of it’s mouth?
Those are club antennae. From what I read, they can curl them in and out.
Great capture Eliza 🥰
Thank you, Val! x
Oh, my! I have never seen such a thing.
Me neither. Not commonly seen, I guess. 🙂
Wonderful that you saw it.
Cool! I haven’t seen one like that.
She certainly got my attention with that shiny armor!
Certainly a colourful little fellow
Yes, a pleasant surprise to see her. 🙂
Shiny wee beastie. 😀
Isn’t she something? 🙂
wow! beautiful
Thank you, Sylvia!
Just beautiful! I remember as a kid, it was cool to have a “scarab pin” when learning about Egypt, but they weren’t as pretty as that!
Thank you, Julie! This one would make a pretty model for such a pin.
The iridescence reminds me of the rose gold that was in favor for jewelry for a time; perhaps it still is. Since I’m one who’s always imagining insects are brooches, it was interesting to read your tidbit about the Mayans. As you said, it wouldn’t have been the best life for the beetle!
It is a pretty little garden friend. I happen to love rose gold, but it is hard to find now. I have a pair of earrings that belonged to my mother that were rose gold flowers with a pearl center.
That’s a beautiful beetle and you caught its colors so well. Nice set of shots!
Thank you, Tina. It was a very cooperative subject!
Fine shots, Eliza!
Thank you, Belinda, much appreciated!
Well, it’s very pretty, especially for something in the dung beetle category! That said, I’m always impressed when I see shiny green June bugs.
IKR? A well-dressed worker. 😉
Beautiful! It brought back happy memories of Mama’s beetle bracelet, although they were green.
Thank you, Susan. I think these shiny gems have inspired a lot of jewelry over the years, all the way back to Egypt.
It’s kind of cute and very shiny!
Thanks, Barbara, I found her quite charming!
“All that glitters is not gold”, sometimes it’s a beetle. I’ve never seen one of these so enjoyed your sharing, Eliza.
Thanks, Steve, I thought you might. 🙂
So fancy!
Isn’t she a stunner? 🙂
Beautiful 🧡
Thank you, Karen!
Wow, such a beautiful (and aptly-named) creature!
Thank you, Samuel, your visit is much appreciated!
Fascinating and quite beautiful.
Thanks, Alys– agreed!
Great close up photos, and what an amazingly pretty beetle!
Thank you, Cathy. She was a marvel!
Wow and great capture!
Thank you, Eunice!
Oh wow! Sparkling beauty.
Thank you, Adele. I found her ambling along our walkway. I had my photoshoot, then set her in a safer place. She was very cooperative!
So cool
IKR? 🙂 We had a nice visit. 🙂
Tis very cool!
Thank you, Denise! She was a cooperative subject, too. 🙂
Wow🌹
🙂 Nature is so marvelous.
It is indeed!🌹
