Silent Sunday – Chilled
This entry was posted in Field Notes, My Photos and tagged Chilled, nature photography, Silent Sunday, winter ice. Bookmark the permalink.
What beautiful patterns – this is something I never see here.
Thank you, Anne. Lucky for you in a way, one really has to bundle up and it can be dangerous out there if one stays too long. I expect with your summer heat, you have the opposite danger occurring.
That is so – thank goodness we have a swimming pool in our garden.
Just Paused
🙂 Glad you did.
Magical!!
Thank you, Trini! x
Ice can be so beautiful. Great photos Eliza!
Thank you, Maria! Lots of ice out there today, so nice to see on our walks.
Loving the slide show, Eliza…
Thank you, Anita, it is quite icy here at the moment, so beautiful.
The snow is disappearing into slush, just hope it doesn’t freeze tonight…
Chilled, cold patterns!
Aren’t they fun? I love looking at ice formations. 🙂
Perfect for today because our real feel is single digit.
Thank you, Judy. Same here… stay warm!
The Master Artist at play again. Beautiful, Eliza!! Mesmerizing!! xo
Thank you, Amy! I hope you are well. x
Chilled it is …. and I’m one who likes patterns like these. 🙂 Have a good Sunday.
Thank you, Frank! It is a fantasy world in ice. 🙂
Appropriate for today….brrr……..!
Yup, stay warm! 🙂
Chilled and pretty, Eliza! I see at least three tropical flowers in the second photo, and a bird with an eye at the bottom right. 🌺 🐦😊
Thank you, Donna! Fantasy flowers will have to do here at this point in time. 😉
Cold, cold, cold!
It surely is! 🙂
Interesting how differently ice forms. Trapped bubbles.
Different temps yield different structures. This recent freeze is yielding some amazing ice along the streams, so beautiful.
Nice series of ice images Eliza! Enjoyed seeing them! Very nICE!😊
🙂 Thanks, Reed!
Ice pictures. Many if us seem to be getting some proper winter weather the last couple of weeks.
Yes, it is good to have properly seasonal weather, those mild days in early winter had me a bit worried. 😉
🙂☃️
More beautiful ice. Love it!
Thank you, Sandy! 🙂
You bet!
Such pretty patterns and textures with a touch of foliage peaking through.
Thank you, Belinda. I find them so mesmerizing. 🙂
Loved the chilled perfection!!🙂
Thank you, S! 🙂
Ah, for the opportunity to do abstract ice pictures every year.
🙂 Maybe next year you’ll be able to travel to a frozen mountain area. Hope springs eternal.
I love the patterns the ice makes when it freezes around weeds/stems. Beautiful captures.
Thank you, Vicki. Hope you are doing well. ❤
I am still doing well. It’s just a matter of time now before I can get back to my normal activities.
Nice to see these–I thought looking at them they were a common sight when I was a child because we lived near a creek and were always going to visit it. Now, occasionally I see patterns like this in a big frozen puddle. It only got cold here yesterday and we may have some sleet and snow tomorrow, but I’m not holding my breath.
Puddle ice is always fun to look at, isn’t it?
Thanks, Lisa. Hope you are well.
Slowly recovering from the last four years (or maybe 5). Relieved. Not waking up in the morning wondering what outrage was committed overnight and not feeling like I have to check the news hourly. Whew!
You echo my thoughts exactly, Lisa. The daily stress was unbearable– let the recovery begin, such a relief!
And here I was complaining about daytime temperatures in the low 50s…Your photos are beautiful, as always.
Thank you, Kris. Our low last night was 11F, yeah, that is cold! 😉
I went looking for these yesterday but all I found were icicles. Not a bad substitute. Maybe today. I envy you having that brook right outside your door. Nice abstracts, Eliza!
Thank you, Steve. Lots of good ice out there this week. 🙂
Such beautiful patterns you captured! It’s chilly here, too. Even the salty water is beginning to freeze.
Thank you, Robin. Properly attired, it isn’t half bad out. 🙂
Very cool! (Ha ha!)
🙂 Thanks, Fi!
Brrrr! 😊❤️
Definitely! Cold camera fingers. 😉
I’ll always be a summer girl, but Eliza, these are stunning!
Thank you, Debbie. Even though for a break I wouldn’t mind spending Jan. down south, I do like seeing the ice formations and experiencing the quiet hush of a snowy day.
Now that is magical.
Thank you, Jill!
Beautiful captures Eliza! ❤
Thank you, Julie! x
These are awesome images, Eliza. Such beautiful patterns and textures. 💙
Thank you, Jane! x
Wow, I’ve never seen ice like this before!
Lucky you – haha! It takes several days below freezing to have this happen, but it sure is pretty!
These patterns are gorgeous. We don’t get this in Southern California. Thank you for sharing–glad to be back on here and share in your beautiful work.
Thank you, Shayleene. ❤
I love all the lines and swirls in your ice photos, Eliza. You make it look infinitely beautiful and inviting even when we know how–bbrrrrrr–cold it is when you’re photographing.
Thank you, Jet. My hands have to go into my pockets frequently to warm up!
So we’ve both been in the ice business, so to speak.
Winter subjects!
Wonderful ice pattern finds and captures!
Thank you, Denise!
