It is Day Three of Cathy at Words and Herbs annual ‘A Week of Flowers‘, where she invites any and all to join her each day this week (until 7th December) to share a photo or two, taken over the past year, of something bright and colorful from our gardens. Click the link to see what others have shared or to join in yourself.
Thanks, Cathy, for this cheerful pick-me-up meme to brighten our early December days!

Pretty in Pink and gives off an Easter vibe with the yellow and pink!
Thank you, Dale. The contrast between this photo and the white outside the window, it is amazing to think it is the same place!
Truly!
On a day where 4-5 inches of snow has accumulated and will likely continue until this afternoon, Bleeding Heart is soooo very welcome. Thanks for sharing such a beauty.
Thank you, Monika. A bit of spring color is needed! We got (I’m guessing) around 6″ yesterday and with no thaw in sight, it might be here for a while. ☃️
Most definitely! We’re pushing 6″ now and the snow continues. Nice wet, heavy snow. Oy, my aching back.
Get the ice packs ready! (Do you rest on your back on the floor with legs up on the couch or chair? It sets me right every time.)
I have in the past but must be fairly accustom since I’m packing for a move on Friday, hauling boxes from room to room. Mostly I think my old body is just tired.
I can only imagine how tough that must be. I hope you’ll have help and it goes smoothly. 🤞🏼
Picture perfect. Can’t wait to try to grow them.
Thank you, they are a wonderful plant and bloom for weeks.
The contrast of the daffodils in the background brings the photograph to another dimension
Thank you, Karen! 🙂
They’re so pretty Eliza and look to be thriving in your garden! 💖✨️ xxx
Thank you, Xenia. I let them self-sow around, so there’s a nice bunch of them now. Guess they like it there!
Love these. Terrific shot, Eliza. 💗
Thank you, Jane! 💕
Fab
Merci!
I love bleeding heart flowers!

There’s nothing quite like them, is there? 🙂
Oh, thank you so much for sharing this beautiful photo Eliza! Those little hearts made me smile. 💕
Thank you, Cathy, glad to know it pleased!
So pretty! They brought a feeling of warmth even on a chilly, gray day. Thank you! 😊
Thank you, Pepper, glad you enjoyed them!
Ah, another one that we do not grow. I have not seen this directly in many years.
Thank you, Tony. A spring favorite. Folks often will slow down to enjoy and photograph a large clump of pink and white ones that I have near the road. 🙂
Delicate beauties. 😌
Thank you, Bela! 💕
So beautiful, Eliza! I like all of those colors and flowers!
Thank you, Hien!
Gorgeous, Eliza.
Thank you, Alys! 🙂
I think one of the very prettiest flowers!
Agreed! 🙂
I love their graceful arch. Fine photo, Eliza!
Thank you, Belinda!
I love how the branch tapers over to share it in a bower Eliza. All angles to view a heart 🤗❤️🙏
Thank you, Mark
Bleeding hearts are so graceful – pretty image.
Thank you, Tom!
One of my favorites. They are such interesting looking flowers.
Thank you, Rebecca. So unique and those deep-colored hearts are just so special. 🙂
I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen these growing. A couple of gardening sites suggested that our heat and clay soil don’t suit them. They’re so graceful, and combined with that yellow certainly evoke spring.
Thank you, Linda. They definitely prefer cool and moister climates. Basically a long spring ephemeral, they go dormant by July, when things start heating up here, not even to the degree yours does.
Beautiful photo, especially with the yellow and green in the background.
Thank you, Vipin!
Love the framing of this Eliza! It really exaggerates those lovely arching wands.
Thank you, Allison. I love when these are in bloom!
Bleeding Heart has the absolute best graceful arch I think.
Yes, such a unique flower in the garden, so pretty.
Thank you, I needed that. 🙂 Yesterday, I moved 7″ of snow and today the arctic chill rolls in. Seeing a Bleeding Heart is a plus for sure.
Thank you, Judy. Cathy’s meme is very timely!
Be still my heart! 🩷
Ah, yes… thank you, Barbara. 🙂
♥️
Thank you, Isha!
The bleeding heart is superb!
Thank you, it is a sweet flower to have in the garden. 💖
So pretty! I always loved growing bleeding hearts back when I had my own gardens. I looked forward to seeing the tiny blooms in the spring and watching them develop into those adorable hearts.
Thank you, it is an adorable little bloom. 🙂 😍
Absolutely stunning!
Thank you, Caroline!
