Silent Sunday – Yeah, It Happens…
This entry was posted in Field Notes, My Photos and tagged April Snow, Silent Sunday. Bookmark the permalink.

Oh no…April snow!
Hopefully, this is the last of it for a while. 🙂
Fingers crossed.
What…a cold snap. Who gave permission for that? Brrrr…🤣❤️🙏
Spring is being elusive this year… 🙂
Snow in April 😀
Yup!
Happened in Maine, too. 😉
Poor man’s fertilizer! 😀
Yes, indeed!
It looks beautiful…but I can imagine that you’d much rather have Spring weather at this time of year 😉
Thank you. Yes, I’m trying to appreciate the beauty, knowing it will melt soon enough. 🙂
Oh my my.
One step forward, two steps back, ha!
😁
Oh gosh Eliza. Rather different to the rows of daffodils in England x
Yes, my early daffs are nodding under this heavy blanket. 🙂
Brrrr Eliza, hope you’re all keeping safe and warm! 🧡 xxx
Thank you, Xenia. Spring is being shy this year. 😉
Snow again?? – bet you thought spring was coming!
Thanks, Karina. I think Spring took the slow train. 😉
Hopefully won’t be long
Oh my! Yes, it does! Hope all of your young Spring blooms survive. Still – a beautiful light white blanket.
Thank you, Carrie. The daffodils are resilient and I can appreciate the beautiful white woods. 🙂
Having grown up in NY not far from Montreal, I remember spring snows, even in May once in a great while. Luckily they leave quickly.
Yes, knowing it won’t last makes it easier, for sure.
Hi Eliza.
Oh dear – not what you wanted.
MJ
Not unheard of, but the gardener and sun lover would like to get a move on. 😉
Yes, it certainly happened here yesterday. An early spring? Not so much. 🙂
Not this year, it seems. We keep waiting! 🌷
Yeah, it’s pretty depressing….4″ here. 😫 We had to start feeding the birds again.
Trying to focus on the beauty! The feeders are still mobbed here, too.
Well as long as it melts by the next day it looks pretty enough!
About an inch left, but it’ll go. I’m trying to be patient and enjoy the beauty!
Awwww… it’ll melt today I bet, eh?
I hope, we got about 3″ and have about an inch left. 65ºF tomorrow!! 👍🏼
So pretty — and no doubt so temporary!
Thankfully, yes. 36 hours later, all gone!
That looks exactly like my view when I lived in CT in the early 90s. There was a late snowstorm just weeks before we were to move back south. CT ran out of cinders for the roads and my husband didn’t come home from his work in another town. I had two little babies and was in a panic. He had to turn around and stay in a hotel for the night.
So many fond winter memories, haha!
It is pretty but not in April 😏. We had snow earlier in the week but its all melted.
50C is making all the difference today!
Ooch!! Hope it melts fast! 🫠🌷💖
Pretty much gone, 10C today!
🤩🌷so good to hear!
I hope you didn’t need to shovel too much!?! Lots of flowers patiently waiting to grow! I planted 10 6 packs of Pansies & Violas & bought 2 all ready planted bowls of Pansies & planted a packet of ‘Green Arrow’ peas in pots, but it’s just been cold & rainy the past days.
The snow covered my daffs, but they are tough. Hubby did all the shoveling, mostly melted today!
Oh dear. We’ve had those April snows and ice, too, and, while pretty, they merely prolong the inevitable: Spring’s arrival. And fortunately, they do provide a nice source of water for the blooming!

Yes, we can always use the water!
Brrrrrrrr!
Definitely!
Weather whiplash! I’m sorry, Eliza. Spring will come back and stick soon I hope.

Thanks, Kris. It is beautiful to wake up to but at this point, we’re ready to move on already!
OMG, that’s a lot of snow in April. It sometimes happens to us here in S. WI, too. Glad it’s not happening this spring. Yours will melt soon and spring is definitely on the way!
Thank you, Beth. I noticed you are in a warm jet stream pattern from the south. Ours is coming down from Canadian Arctic keeping us cool, not a bad thing overall. Hope it holds come summer!
We had a couple snowy days this week, I hope it’s the last for this season!🙂
Same here… be gone, Winter! 🙂
Oh dear! And it looks like quite a bit too! I do hope it all melts away really fast and doesn’t squash any emerging flowers. We have been spared it this year, but April snow is so annoying! Here are some virtual flowers for you Eliza!🌷🌹🌺🌸🪻🌼
Thank you, Cathy. It lasted about 36 hours… not too bad. The jet stream seems to be stationary coming out of the north, so cool temps will continue. I hope it lasts through the summer!!
I guess all you can do is try to enjoy it.
Exactly, it is quite pretty.
Strange, beautiful, poetic 🫶🏻💞
Also, love your title! 😁
😀 Thanks!
Thanks, Isha– yes, all of the above! 💖
April snow showers. So beautiful! It’s been cooler than usual here too, but no snow. 🙂
Thanks, yes, a cool spring isn’t a bad thing. It’ll get hot soon enough!
I love spring storms. They come in, dump a bunch and leave quickly. Everything greens up nicely too. We only received a skiff but it’s more than welcome. Within a couple of hours after getting up, it was already melted. 😉
High elevation snow seems to go quickly. My son lives in the Sierras and it is amazing how intense the sun is!
Absolutely! High altitude sunshine is something extraordinary.
And now I’m shivering, Eliza!
It frequently snows in April around here. Luckily, it melts quickly. 🙂 Today was a beautiful and sunny 20C!
So pretty! But the timing is so off!
December snow is one thing, but April is quite another!
Oh boy … hope it didn’t hurt your garden. We haven’t put away our shovels yet!
The crocus didn’t like it, but the daffs were fine. Winter gear, like shovels and clothes, I never clean and put away until we’re frost-free… like June!
SNOW!!! 😀 … in April to boot! … that’s gotta hurt. 🙂
It is not so unusual here, I’ve come to accept it, and happily melts quickly.
😀
Oh dear! It has happened here as well in past years, but not lasted very long.
We kind of expect it, but as you say, it doesn’t last long. It’s only a problem if it’s deep and heavy enough to break branches.
Oeff! Spring not living up to its name or its promise!
Early April snow is not all that unusual here, and melts pretty quickly. We are now heading into a stretch of really warm weather in comparison. 👏🏼
It’s happening here as I’m typing these words . . . ❄ ❄ ❄
Any moisture is welcome!
Very true. We received about 5 inches!
It does happen. I remember getting some light snow on Easter Sunday when we visited the Davis Mountains in west Texas years ago.
