The hoarfrost photo is my favorite. Now that I remember I can survive in below freezing temperatures, I’d be willing to go out to see that (at least for a short time!)
Thank you, Linda. Good, warm clothing and short, quick walks are a small price to pay. 😉
Looks beautiful ⛄️
Thank you, Karen. It really is a blessing. 🙂 🙏🏼
This is very cold and yet, from my distance and in my heat, the scenery looks beautiful!
Thank you, Anne. During our heat waves in summer, I think back to these days with appreciation. Balance!
The sunlight in the third photo makes it look warm, even though it’s cold. Beautiful!
Thank you, Audrey! Brisk walks these days. 🙂
All beauties but I have to say, no. 3 Hoarfrost and no. 5. Upriver are particularly lovely!
Thank you, Dale. The depth of this season makes us appreciate the height of summer, and visa versa. 🙂
Exactly!
Well, at least the battery was 61% percent charged! (Too cold for me)
Ha, yes, the cold drains those batteries too quickly… at least they are rechargeable. 🙂
It sure is. It’s beautiful, Eliza. You’ve captured it well.
Thank you, Alys! 💕
Ooh Eliza…is that legal 🤣❤️🙏
Ha, I know, right? 🙂
🤣
Your Winter scenery looks so beautiful Eliza, hope you are keeping safe and warm too 💜💫 xxx
Thank you, Xenia. Staying near the wood stove!
The river photos are so peaceful. It’s expected weather in New England…..but it’s going to …maybe…get up to 40° here today, the sun feels much warmer…we have almost 40 minutes extra of light in the afternoon, the Bluebirds were here so much on their 15th day, yesterday, enjoying dried larvae…imagining all the bulbs & plants getting ready to start sprouting.

Yes, a normal winter so far, still short on snow, however. Maybe next month?
Hey, the inside temp. looks okay! 😉
Hehe, thanks to the wood stove! 🙂
Oh my! That number sure looks cold, but the views are worth it 🙂 You really have a slice of heaven there, I love your woods.
Thank you, Frank. It is like living in a private park, a privilege we are grateful for on a daily basis. Our sanctuary! 🌳🌿🌲
Yes, a ‘regular’ New England winter this year.
All we need now is a blizzard, ha! 😉
Was that a -20ºF wind chill factor? Yikes! Love the glittering hoarfrost scene. Thanks for braving the cold to capture so much beauty!
Yeah, there were a couple days I didn’t even go out to walk our trail. It has to be in the upper teens for me, at least. Thanks, Barbara, its a pleasure to share. 🙂
Has it been a while since it’s been that cold were you live? Back home they are building a toboggan run from lake ice. They haven’t been able to do it for years.
Yes, we’re having a ‘normal’ winter in terms of cold, but lacking snow… however, we still have Feb/Mar. to go.
Brrrr! We have not yet gone into negative temperatures yet! Yesterday I watched a video of daily life in the Yakut region of Siberia. There they have temperatures like -94 ºF, and still the Yakut children walk to school.
That is beyond belief, I can’t imagine how cold that is!
Brrrrr! I can’t even imagine that kind of cold! Stay warm and safe, Eliza!
Thanks, Tina. We’re due for a few warmer days in the 30s, which will be much better!
Looks cold but beautiful. Personally, I’m looking forward to Spring!
Thanks, Debbie. It is the single digits and below that get to me, otherwise, I’m fine with cold weather. 🙂
It’s the below zero that gets to me … when even a few minutes outdoors can be dangerous.
Makes me shiver! We are to have a few days this week close to 50F.
A warm up would be welcome!
Hope one comes your way.
🤞🏼
You’ve captured winter’s frosty beauty. I really like the frozen waterfall photo!
Thank you, Belinda!
Awwwk…that’s worse than here. Stay warm. Hopefully the forecast includes some warm up.
The next few days are at least above freezing around mid-day, but it slips back below on Wed. Oh well, winter won’t last forever!
‘Only’ 52 days until the official arrival of spring…but who’s counting. 🤣
Geez, is that all?? 😀
It’ll be here before we know it.
I shuddered on your behalf when I initially read your temperature as 10 degrees. Minus 10 is beyond my comprhension! Stay warm and enjoy that icy landscape from inside your warm house!
https://krispgarden.blogspot.com/
Thanks, Kris. This has been a colder January than in recent years, but very normal temps historically speaking. Walks are pretty quick, no lingering!
Thank you for sharing your wintry beauty, Eliza. Our temps were similar last weekend, now it’s more seasonal, in the teens and twenties.
Thank you, Tanja. We’re having a ‘real’ winter this year!
So are we, Eliza. It’s beautiful, and if we dress appropriately, we can enjoy the beauty.
👍🏼
-10F is pretty darn cold! I’ve just seen single digit cold here. Lovely images! It was 40 deg F here today, but it’s going to to single digits again. Maybe I’ll see some of your fancy frost!
It was about 35 tops here, a nice change, though the windchill made it feel less warm. A few days respite, then we’re back to it!
Such a beautiful view.
Thank you, Flavia!
Brrrr! We haven’t had it that cold for a few years now! Beautiful when the sun shines but – as your waterfall photo shows – icy cold. Hope you are staying warm Eliza!
Thanks, Cathy. Yes, the wood stove has been keeping us roasty-toasty! 🙂
We had -9 here that morning. Thankfully the lows have been in the positive numbers since then, and we did get above freezing yesterday afternoon. The sunshine does make all the difference, doesn’t it?
We’ve reached a 10-hr. day as well, the sun does indeed make all the difference!
Yikers! I hope today was much better!
The temps have been yo-yo-ing for months. A few days in the 30s, then back to 20s, with a wicked wind chill today. 🥶
And the wind is the worse! Today we’re in the mid 40s with sunny skies & no wind, it feels like summer, lol. Trying to enjoy, because the cold is coming back here too.
The frozen waterfall still reminded me of the river Narmada 🩶
I feel honored to have my humble watershed compared to the holy Narmada Mai, thank you! 🙏
When I visited Jabalpur a few years ago, there was a specific portion of the waterfall that spoke to me. It was enchanting and your picture immediately revived that memory! 💖🫂
Nice collection of photos! We’re just past a similar cold snap, but today the temps are in the 40s…what a change! And not much snow here this winter.

A welcome change, I’m sure. Thanks, Beth!
-23°C – now that’s cold! We sometimes get temperatures that low, but this year has been completely unpredictable. Winter comes and goes in just two days—it feels more like the UK than Latvia!
I think the weather all over has become more unpredictable and extremes seem to be the new normal, alas. Thanks for stopping by, Ilze!
We really miss the sun. It feels like we haven’t seen it in ages! This gloomy weather is tough—living half the year without sunlight is not easy. 😞 When it was around -15C, we had sunny days and blue skies.
