How cool are these? That flower is beautiful and that leaf has a story to tell.

  5. Easy for you to say. 😉

    Lovely.

  6. Anne's avatar Anne says:

Apart from the flower, I find the mottled leaf very pretty.

Thank you, Anne. In a group, they are quite something to see. I’ve read that they grow very slowly and these were probably 20 years old. One must have patience!

  7. Alice's avatar Alice says:

What an interesting flower and leaf combination…the leaf reminds me of how an octopus is camouflaged.

  8. Your lovely photos bring back wonderful memories of the first time I learned about Mayapples.

The flower is attractive and interesting, but that leaf!

  10. Treah Pichette's avatar Treah Pichette says:

Wow…how exotic! You need a big fat frog sitting on that leaf! 😉

  11. That is a very interesting plant. Is it wild or did you plant it?

Wow–that’s just stunning. It’s hard to decide which is more beautiful: leaf or flower?

  15. Donna Donabella's avatar Donna Donabella says:

I don’t think I have seen the Asian variety…I had the native Mayapple in my old garden and it grows at the edge of the woods naturally in my new garden. Beautiful foliage and flower in the Asian variety.

  16. Such a pretty colour and interesting appearance.

  17. Amazing the leaf can steal the show from the beautiful flower!🙂

  18. Debbie's avatar Debbie says:

Another one I’m not familiar with — thanks, Eliza!

  19. Cathy's avatar Cathy says:

Wow, what beautiful leaves! And I think you have helped me identify the foliage I saw at the Himalaya Park I visited at the weekend. 😃👍

  20. What an intricate pattern on the leaves, and gorgeous flower!

  21. This is unusual. The leaf looks similar in colour to a begonia variety.

  22. Pepper's avatar Pepper says:

    So pretty. 😊

  23. greendreamsswe's avatar Maria says:

It’s hard to tell if the leaf or the flower is the most beautiful! On the other hand, perhaps one doesn’t need to decide 🙂

  24. Wonderful! Beauty in the flower AND leaves!!!

  25. Thanks for the photos 🙂
