Winter does have its compensations . . .
Beauty being foremost. 🙂 Thanks, Ellen.
Oh Yes, I remember Winter
🙂 I hope fondly.
A black road snaking through snow-heavy trees… reminds me so much of childhood winters in the mountains. Every year, without fail, it snowed. And in my small, hilly town where snowplows made random appearances, for a few days after a heavy snow, the hills belonged to the kids.
Thanks for sharing this!
Beautiful memories, Jerome, thanks much for sharing them!
An absolutely magical winter wonderland!
Thank you, Maria. God Jul!
All your photos are making me feel cold! We had 17degrees yesterday, although I don’t think that’s normal. MJ
Assuming that is Cº that sounds nice. 50ºF with rain is forecast here for C. eve and day. Hope your holiday is merry!
You even make it look enticing
🙂 It is, rather– thanks, Derrick
Beautiful shot! It looks like New Englanders know how clear snow from their roads.
Oh, yes, we do 🙂 Lots of experience!
🙏
Thank you, Ashley.
Beautiful serene shot for the season.
Thank you, Frank. It’s nice that we’ll have a white Christmas this year (despite the rain in the forecast).
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Thank you, Eunice and same to you.
Thank you.
As difficult as winter is for us gardeners, I do love the snowy scenes. This one reminds me of a Robert Frost poem!
Yes, ‘Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening.’ 🙂
Beautiful. The first 18″ never stuck in the trees, but the 2″ stuck and looked beautiful. Happy Wednesday.
Thank you, Judy!
It looks like Christmas.
I love the way the snow sticks to the trees, perfect for a Christmas card. 🙂
Looks like it would be a beautiful walk. Bundled up, of course!
Yes, it is, thanks, and up at the top of the hill there is a lovely view to the east, perfect for moonrises (I rarely am up for sunrises) and star-gazing.
Beautiful! I love the focus that the road lends to the photo, leading you right through it and giving a nice focal point.
Thank you, D!
Great image Eliza! Love the winding road through the trees!
Thank you, Reed!
A great place to walk in any season.
And that we do! 🙂
This photo calls us to journey…
🙂 Yes, indeed.
A beautiful scene Eliza! 💜
Thank you, Xenia!
Such a lovely sight!
Thank you, Laurie!
beautiful… peaceful…
Thank you, Dymoon, it certainly is. 🙂
Definitely looks like Christmastime.
Yes, I’m enjoying it very much!
Beautiful!🙂
Thank you, S!
What a lovely photo! (especially since the snow is not in my garden)
🙂 Thanks, Loree. It’ll be nice to have a white Christmas this year, even despite the rain forecast.
Beautiful! And the roads are clear (even if you’re advised not to use them at the moment).
Thank you, Kris. Our town crew does a good job, thankfully!
Stunning! Thanks for dropping in to ABAB! Merry Christmas.
Thank you, Mike!
That is one great shot!
Thank you, Gary! Not something you see all that often in the Central Valley I imagine. 🙂
No, used to see it several times a year in Paradise though and quite a bit in Grass Valley as a kid…used to toboggan all night long on a night with a full moon when it did snow, great times!
Beautiful and serene ❤️
Thank you, Donna!
Good choice of the curve in the road to keep us moving into the image, Eliza. That’s a beaut of a country road.
Thank you, Steve!
The winter woods . . .how breath taking. Would make us all think of Frosts’ poem, which is a favorite of mine. Merry Christmas!
Thank you, Michele. Much appreciated, enjoy your holiday. ❤
Merry Christmas Eliza!
Thank you, Brenda. The same back at ya!
Such a pretty scene. Nicely done!
Thank you, Belinda!
Very Christmassy! Have a good one Eliza. Wishing you health and happiness!
Thank you very much, Allison, and the same to you! x
A perfectly beautiful winter scene. 🙂
Merry Christmas Eliza. ❤
Thank you, Joanne!
Happy Christmas, Eliza! Your beautiful photo echoes the snowy road we walked upon last year when we were blessed to spend time with family back east, to be there now would be such bliss…
Thank you! Hope your Christmas was merry.
I was amazed when I awoke this morning to see it was 57º and having poured all night, all the snow had melted (there was at least 8″ on the ground yesterday)! So while that 14″ of snow we got last week to put us in the Christmas mood was fun to see, it is all gone now. Such strange weather. And when it all freezes again, yikes, it’ll be treacherous out there.
It’s raining on this gloomy Boxing Day but I can see some light breaking through the clouds…Christmas was merry and bright, I hope yours’ was, too!
Thank you, it rained like the dickens, but at least it was warm! 🙂
What a wonderful shot. I would love to walk down that lane.
I hope you had a lovely Christmas. Happy Boxing Day! 🙂
Thank you, I am fortunate that often I get to do just that. Christmas was rainy and quiet, like so many others’ experience during these troubling times. Looking forward to a brighter 2021.
Spectacular image, Eliza. I love images with leading roads and this one is so inviting. It looks black and white but upon closer inspection, I think I see some color in the trees. Wishing you a peaceful and happy new year. 🙂
Thank you, Jane, much appreciated. May 2021 be all that and more. ❤
Beautifully composed shot Eliza – I feel quite transported!
Thank you, Carol. I’m fond of this view and the big oak on the left is one I love especially. Some just really call to me. 🙂
🙂
A beautifully captured winter scene. 😊
Thank you, Irene. 🙂
That would make for a lovely painting. Stunning shot!
Thank you, Adele!

Oh … this is wonderful … I so want to go down that path. And I just love how the snow is sticking to the dark branches.
Thank you, I love the contrast between the dark branches and the white snow, like they are lined with chalk.
So evocative, Eliza – can almost hear that snow silence.
Thank you, it’s so peaceful out there when it snows.
