Cathy at Words and Herbs has presented a challenge to cheer us all up:
“From Sunday the 22nd through to Saturday the 28th let’s share a photo a day (or more than one if you like) of our flowers and gardens and brighten up this dreary time.”

And to those Americans who are celebrating Thanksgiving today, I wish you a safe and happy holiday. Traditionally, it is a day set aside to recognize, with gratitude, all the many gifts we have received. Focus on all the things that are bright and beautiful in your life, as well as the loved ones you hold dear. Abundant Blessings!
Nothing as cheery as sunflowers!
Yes, indeed. Perfect for a gray, rainy day!
Your sunflowers in that vase always bring a smile to my face! 😃 Happy Thanksgiving Eliza. I think it is a lovely festival and our harvest festival in the UK used to be similar but has lost all meaning in recent decades. I suppose many people will be focussing even more on their blessings this year. Hope it’s a good day for you. xx
Thank you very much, Cathy. A lot of Americans are having a hard time letting this one go by this year and are traveling anyway, despite health officials asking us not to. I’m afraid to see what the Covid numbers will be in two weeks time… sad.
We’re staying put, having a feast for two, and considering our many blessings, even if that means being separated from loved ones for this year. Next year will be all the better, I hope. ❤
Sunflowers = Sunshine ☀️
Yes, indeed! 🙂
Hi Eliza. That’s a lovely bunch of flowers to enjoy with my morning cup of tea. And I want that vase!! You could do a blog just on your vase collection! MJ
Thanks, MJ! That would be a LOOONG post, as I have over 100. I’ve tried winnowing the number down, but have trouble letting them go. My kids will have to deal with them… 😉
Beautiful flowers Eliza 🌻 and, if you’re celebrating, Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours too 🤗🧡
Thank you, Xenia! ❤
Happy thanksgiving Eliza. Love sunflowers, so cheerful
Thank you very much, Dorris!
Your usual exquisite blend of colours, including the vase
Thank you, Derrick!
An abundance of gorgeous sunflowers and goldenrod, perfectly positioned in your vase. The orangey cloth is a perfect match. Have a thoughtful be thankful day.
Thank you, Alice! Wishing you a safe and happy day.
Your vase collection alone is a source of wonderful images made even better with your wonderful arrangements, Eliza. And that is a sweet intimate landscape you’ve got there. Minimal fall at its finest. Happy Thanksgiving to you and Brice.
Thank you kindly, Steve! Hope you and MB have a relaxing and peaceful Thanksgiving.
Beautiful flowers, a beautiful vase, a beautiful scene, and beautiful words. May we all be truly thankful for the good things we have experienced as well as for the unexpected blessings that have come our way.
Thank you, Anne!
Both captures are wonderful! Happy Thanksgiving, Eliza, have a blessed day!
Thank you, Donna – same to you!
Sunshine in a vase. Definitely more cheery than our gray skies today. I love the textures and subtle colors you’ve achieved in that second photo–lovely. Happy Thanksgiving, Eliza!
Thank you kindly, Susie. Gray skies and raining here today, too. A hunker down kind of day.
These photos keep getting better. You are amazing!
🙂 Thanks so much, Hien! Happy day to you.
A perfect Thanksgiving Day photograph! Wishing you a blessed and peaceful Thanksgiving!
Thank you kindly, Barbara. Blessings!
I’m grateful for your photos!
Thank you so much, Ellen. Happy day to you!
Love the flowers and that is a perfect vase for it! Thanksgiving will be a little different this year, but we still have so much for which to be grateful!
Thank you, you put it very well! ❤
Oh, isn’t that a jolly arrangement. Also really like the photo of the ferns. Happy Thanksgiving to you, Eliza! A difficult year, but, yes, we do have so much to be grateful for. Not the least, a new administration will soon be in Washington, DC.
Hear, hear, much to be grateful for! Thanks, Laurie. ❤
Well, that’s a lovely vase of flowers, Eliza. Enjoy your Thanksgiving celebration, different as it may be!!
Thank you, March. It’ll be a quiet one, but with all the comfort foods we’ve prepared, it won’t be half-bad! Hope you day is a good one.
More beautiful and cheering blooms, I’m thankful for those today!
🙂 Thank you, Andrea, glad to know that!
Happy Thanksgiving, Eliza. I am glad you’re being prudent. The sunflowers are lovely but it was the woodland ferns that set my heart beating!
Thank you, Susan. The fall color of ferns is always so striking to me as well. The maples aren’t the only plants to shine come fall!
Both images are absolutely beautiful and perfect for the holiday. Happy Thanksgiving Eliza!
Thank you, Kris, hope your day was a good one!
An incredible splash of sunshine and then those wonderful autumn shades! Thanks for sharing. Hope you are having a great Thanksgiving!
Thank you, Cathy. It’s been a nice, quiet day and the feast was delicious! 😉
Beautiful sunny and cheerful flowers Eliza and just the perfect vase for them. Wishing you a happy Thanksgiving. It is so hard but home is best at the moment. Enjoy your day 😄
Thank you, Anna!
I adore the fern picture – what are they? And I remember the sunflower vase, loved it both times. Happy Thanksgiving, Eliza.
Thank you, Amy. I believe they are cinnamon ferns (Osmunda).
Your flower arrangement is stunning, Eliza, and then your nature composition beholds so much peace to the viewer. Bless you!! xo
Thank you, Amy! ❤
Beautiful flowers Eliza. How grateful we are not only for the actual flowers and nature around us, but also for those like you that bring our focus on them again and again. Blessings.
Thank you very much, Agnes. Flowers are one thing that I never tire of seeing. 🙂
That’s lovely Eliza 🌼🌷🌺
I can see you are focusing on the bright and beautiful in your life with your display of sunny flowers! Very cheerful. 🙂
We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here in Australia, but I think we should! Happy Thanksgiving, Eliza. ❤
Thank you, Joanne! It is good to set a day by for contemplating our many blessings, esp. if it isn’t a daily practice. But it is even better to do it every day! 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving to you as well! The sunflowers look great for a gloomy day, I almost forgot how bright they were 🙂
Thank you, Frank. I hope your day was an enjoyable one. Mine was nice and lazy! 😉
Right up my alley 😉
Beautiful vase and arrangement !!
Perfect, Eliza! Love also the beautiful vase! Thank you!
This is always one of my favourite of your vases, but I love the fern dell!
Fine flowers in a perfect vase and a cheerful illustration for Thanksgiving. I hope you had a peaceful celebration and were able to connect virtually with loved ones while observing the health precautions. Indeed, let’s hope things will be different this time next year. Take care.
Thank you, Carol. Our day was quiet and reflective, a true Thanksgiving. The news reported that 50 million Americans were planning to travel for the day… I dread to see the stats in two weeks time. 😦
I am glad to hear that you had a day of Thanksgiving that was reflective and peaceful.
The news that so many people are travelling and congregating under present circumstances is very worrying. The pressure on health workers must be almost unbearable.
The lack of foresight or caring for others is quite troubling and I cannot imagine how stressful it must be to work in health care these days.
Troubling indeed, and the stresses of working in health care during these unprecedented times is almost unimaginable. Take care.
A perfect pairing of flowers to vase. Hope you had a happy Thanksgiving, Eliza. 🙂
Thank you, Jane. It was rather quiet, but very nice, thanks. 🙂
Lovely photos, I particularly like the woodland shot!
Thank you, Belinda. I took lots of photos in that spot, every angle was beautiful!
What a fun vase and arrangement! We can’t tell where one starts and the other stops!
🙂 Thanks, Denise!
Such beautifil colours Eliza, happiness in a flower
Thank you, Alison!
