It seems that my color palette this year is trending towards bright and bold. I do have pink and white out there, but perhaps I’m unconsciously trying to uplift our spirits during this crisis through my flower choices. It works for me!
I chose my orange Blenko vase to showcase the orange and yellow Cosmos (C. sulphureus) that have come on strongly this week. I particularly love the petals that look like they are brushstroked with darker shades. A mix of similarly-colored Zinnia (Z. elegans ‘Cut and Come Again’ and ‘Aztec’) and a few Gloriosa Daisies (Rudbeckia hirta) add their own cheer to the arrangement.
White Cleome (C. hassleriana) cools the heat a bit and blue Cornflowers (Centaurea cyanus) and purple Angelonia (A. angustifolia) offer contrast.

How perfectly gorgeous Eliza!
Thank you, Cindy!
Uplifting indeed! 🙂
🙂 Glad you find it so, Joanne! ❤
Very colourful
Truly is – thank you, Sheree!
Bright, colorful and absolutely beautiful💐
Thank you, Nathi!
My pleasure, Eliza! And have a lovely day✨
Perfect! You are such an amazing flower arranger!
🙂 Thanks, Alice!
Pretty 🌸
Thank you, Karen! x
These bright colours certainly uplift me at a time when our surroundings are fairly devoid of colour!
Happy to know that, Anne. Many thanks!
Magnificent. Your choice of vase is always the icing on the cake
Thank you very much, Derrick!
Your orange Blenko vase looks as if it’s smiling filled with such uplifting flowers and colours Eliza, thank you so much for sharing! 🧡
Thank you, Xenia, my pleasure!
Your flower collections always lift my spirits, Eliza… my garden is a little bereft of flowers this year, so really enjoying yours!
Thank you, Anita, I’m glad to share with you!
Beautiful, Eliza. You have such mastery of colour…
Thank you kindly, Steve!
Mission accomplished! Uplifted! Here’s to a bright happy orange week! Perfect composition from vase to flowers! 🧡☀️🤗
Thank you very much, Marina! x
🙂 xoxo
Lovely flowers ,thanks a lot for sharing.🌹👍🙏
Thank you, Francis!
Such rich summery color, Eliza. And I like seeing where they came from in the background. 🙂
Thank you, Steve! The garden does make a nice backdrop. 🙂
Lovely arrangement in a perfect vase. I really like White Cleome and have it on my list to find. One can never have too many beautiful flowers or so I tell myself. 🙂
Thank you, Judy! I would be more than happy to harvest some seed to send you, easy to do. And any other annuals you are interested in. Give me a list! 🙂
Works for me. Heart warming, bright and cheerful. Pinks and blues are more cool and soothing. Love this vase Eliza 💛
Thank you, Val, much appreciated! ❤
Gorgeous! Makes me smile! And you picked the perfect vase for them too. 😃
Thank you, Cathy!
Gorgeous, Eliza!! SO enjoying the sulphurous cosmos you sent me. Next year I will definitely have more areas in my gardens with these delightful flowers. Thank you!! xo
Thank you, Amy! So glad they are growing well for you. I love them! I planted them with white cleome and blue cornflowers this year – a favorite color combination.
I love them too! Hummmmm …. white cleome and blue cornflowers. I’ll have to look into that. Thank you!
Definitely uplifting! Lovely bright flowers and vase 🙂
Thank you, Andrea!
Love all the golds and oranges! Uplifts me. Do you grow the cosmos from seed?
Thank you, Ellen. Yes, I save seed from favorite-colored plants, but many self-sow on their own. I find the plant sturdier than the pink C. bipinnatus, which are prone to powdery mildew and flopping over.
Works for me, too! Made me smile to your jaunty arrangement. Great way to start the day.
Thank you, Laurie! 🙂
Well, this vase of good cheer will get me going for the week! Thanks, Eliza.
Thank you, Sandy, have a good one!
You too!
Thanks!
So many summer flowers! I am envious.
Thank you, Hien. My motto with flowers is definitely ‘more is better!’ 🙂
Bright and bold is good in my view too, Eliza. Orange and blue are made for one another.
Thank you, Kris. Definitely a favorite color combination.
Love this one, Eliza. Orange is a happy color. Bold and vibrant combinations. 🧡
Thank you, Jane. Lower chakra colors seems to be the order of the day. 🙂
Oh that yellow vase/bottle is just brilliant for these blooms, Eliza, and I love the addition of the white cleome
Thank you, Cathy.
Beautiful, I love the vase filled with orange flowers. The whole thing glows!
Thank you, Frank!
Love the colors and the blue pop. And the white Cleome sets it all off. I will have to say I never thought of Cleome as a cut flower until you used it. I also love that Blenko vase, I have a purple one that my mother got as a wedding gift. Art glass from West Virginia, who knew?
Thank you, Amy. Cleome lasts well in a vase, but one does have to trim the spent flowers that shatter and fall.
Blenko seems to be a southern thing. I got mine from my sister in GA.
Hmmm.. did not know Blenko til I ended up with a very funky high heels shoe vase..50s thing? Where is your sister?
She used to live in Cartersville, now in Woodstock.
LOL.. I lived on Roswell.. maybe 15 miles away for years.
Small world. That area has seen a lot of development, you probably would hardly recognize the place!
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Your bright and bold palette is a gift to all of us in these days! Thank you Eliza.
Thank you very much, Peter, it is my pleasure!
Absolutely gorgeous (and can I ask how many vases you really do have, Eliza? 😀 ).
To be honest, I would have been just as cheered up by a vase of pink and white flowers at the moment. With it being winter Downunder and strict lockdown, I nearly bought a bunch of flowers from the stall next to the supermarket last week. I haven’t bought a bunch of flowers since I bought a camera and photographed so many back in 2010.11,12).
How lucky you are to just go out to the garden to pick some flowers.
Thank you, Vicki. Well over 100 vases, most of which don’t see much use. I tend to choose a pint size most often, along with the miniatures that line my windowsill.
I do feel fortunate to have a big garden in which to plant to my heart’s content. 🙂
What a lovely calypso range of colours. The blooms are just perfect. Yes I feel brighter now that I have glimpsed you arrangment.
🙂 Thanks, Noelle!
Uplifting, yes! And creative. Love the wonderful vase that sets the color theme.
Thank you, Susie!
That amber vase with your flower picks is a real stunner, Eliza!
Thank you, Belinda! It gets a lot of use as the late summer flowers come on.
Love the bold colors and Cosmos!! Beautiful photo with your garden in the background of the lovely vase and stunning arrangement!
Thank you, Susan! 🙂
What warm yellows!
Thank you, Maria, they are that!
Vibrant and happy to be alive … a beautiful arrangement!
🙂 Thanks much!
