Ooooo pretty! Cool plant and lovely photo. Looks like you had rain. If you are tired of it at all, could you send some our way? The East side of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, please. 🙂
What is that plant?
We did have light showers spread over a few days, a touch of frost (shown here) on Sunday. Temps in the 30s are helping to melt the snow. I’d send some if I could! After our dry summer, I’m not complaining about the snow or rain. We needed it, too.
The plant is a native swamp azalea, which I didn’t deadhead, no surprise. It is pretty in winter. 🙂
“Look! I got fingers! ” 😀
🙂
So delicate and pretty! 🙂
Thank you, Robin!
It looks as though the plant is reaching for the sun! I hope you get warmer weather soon.
Thank you, Kris. The weather is warming (42 today) and the snow is melting. This weekend felt like the turning point – the air feels different. The snowdrops are up, so all is well! 🙂
How beautiful.
Thank you, Brenda.
Unique plant! Love it 🍃🌿🍀
Thank you, Karen. 🙂 ❤
So interesting with this light!
Thanks, Val. Early morning after a freezing fog/light rain. It has to be good to get me outside first thing when it’s cold! 😉
It is invigorating … and prepares us fully for the “Aaah warm bath/air feeling” around the corner ❤
Nice light capture to draw in the eyes.
Thank you!
I like the composition and the range of warm tones.
Thank you, Michael.
Very nice sparkles and bokeh!
Thank you for noticing, Allison!
Great up close photography.
Thank you, Brian.
Your images are getting better and better, this is so clever.
Thank you very much, Christina.
It looks like a dance. Well, it is isn’t it? Very nice Eliza.
Thank you, Kathy. Nature’s dance, for sure. 🙂
Very pretty! I was going to ask what it was, but someone beat me to the punch on that one!
Thank you. A great native azalea, super fragrant and loves acidic conditions. I have it near the blueberries and pines, where it seems quite happy. 🙂
When I saw its name, I was hopeful it was going to be something that grew in swampy conditions – I’m in need of some of those. Of course, anything that can grow near pines is also something to take note of!
The swamp azalea can grow in bog conditions, like at the edge of your pond. In case you want the name, it is Rhododendron viscosum, although I expect that any native azalea you find in a local nursery will have similar characteristics and adaptability, and esp. fragrance.
Awesome! I was thinking about what to put down there again today. I’m thinking next week, things start getting planted. Later today, after I get done with blogging, it’s outside to prep a few places and pull out some plants that are not my cup of tea.
Happy gardening!
I got all but two of the garden beds cleaned up this afternoon – that seemed productive. Now I can really start to think about what goes in them!
The exciting part!
Yes! I have the seeds you sent me all ready to go!
I feel honored to be a part of your landscape! 🙂
I’ll try to do you justice and actually get them to grow!
They are proven winners – you’ll see!
Pretty! The seed heads look like frosty fingers!
Thank you, Denise. I thought that, too!
OOOOO, how pretty, Eliza! I oooooed out loud. LOL This plant actually has a hand with fingers. How cool is that? 🙂 ❤
Thanks so much, Amy! ❤
Lovely light!
Thank you, Fi!
A frosty delight!
Thank you, Ricki!
Wonderful closeup! Nature has beauty to share at almost any distance.
Thank you!
Oh, in the light, it’s alive! How the frost sparkles! Your wintery photos will soon be finished for another year, Eliza 😉
They are predicting 75 for Mon. and 82 for Tues. Unbelievable! That’ll get things jump-started!
Find your shorts and sunscreen ! Finally , spring for you, too !
It’ll be a good day for a picnic!
And did you enjoy your picnic?
It’s Monday and Tuesday that will be warm – today was chilly 44 with a gusty wind, perfect for raking the front beds without getting too hot. But, oy, now my arms hurt! ;D
