  10. So pretty! I planted dahlias this year–including one like yours–but only 2 of 5 came up. Sigh.

      Thanks, Ellen. Sorry to hear about your dahlias. Apparently, they can be rather fussy and prone to rot when they are first starting out. This the first I have grown them and I see that they like rich soil and it’s a fine line between too little and too much water. I’ll dig them up and store them for next year. I’ll be more generous with the bonemeal and compost next spring.
