- Commonly, a southeastern US species, rarely seen in Massachusetts. Host plant is Pawpaw, which at least two residents in my town grow. Clearly, it’s working to attract ZS!

Having gleaned my garden of all viable blooms last week ahead of expected frosts, I made several arrangements and will post one or two a week in order to join the IAVOM meme for a couple more posts. The expected frosts did come nearly every night and finished my gardening year, alas, making these vases all the more pleasurable to me.
Here is #2: A mix of pink Zinnia elegans, Dahlia ‘Chilson’s Pride’, white yarrow (Achillea millefolium), with accents of a few sprigs of cigar plant (Cuphea ignea ‘Vermillionaire’) and hummingbird mint (Agastache ‘Poquito’).

I’ve gleaned my garden of nearly all viable blooms as frost is likely this week. I’ve made several arrangements and will show one a week so I can continue to join the IAVOM meme for a couple more weeks. Hopefully, that will be okay with the judges. 😉

First is a pink and purple confection containing Dahlias ‘Pinelands Princess’, ‘Chilson’s Pride’ and ‘Voodoo’, dark and light pink cosmos (C. bipinnatus), magenta Salvia greggii, lavender and purple flowering tobacco (Nicotiana alata ‘Watercolors’), Zinnia elegans ‘Sprite’ and Verbena bonariensis.

Sedum ‘Autumn Joy’ (Hylotelephium spectabile) is deepening to a beautiful burgundy and I paired it with gray-green sage leaves (Salvia officinalis) and burgundy coleus (Plectranthus scutellarioides). Light pink Dahlia ‘Chilson’s Pride’ and burgundy’Voodoo’, pink and yellow Zinnia elegans, white yarrow (Achillea millefolium) and deep pink cosmos (C. bipinnatus) complete the arrangement. The hand-painted grape pitcher was a thrift store find.
