I was inspired to use my ikebana vase today for different look. Dogwood blossoms (Cornus florida), white bleeding heart (Lamprocapnos spectabilis ‘Alba’) and ostrich fern (Matteuccia struthiopteris).

Nice!
Thank you, Alys!
Bleeding heart is intriguing. I see it only in pictures. I have seen it in nurseries here, but it does not perform well with such minimal humidity. Dogwoods are uncommon farther inland, although several perform well here closer but not too close to the coast.
Thank you, Tony. Very few plants will do well in both of our diverse climates.
Actually, more do than do not. These are only two that do not.
Artistically created, Eliza.
Thank you, Jane. 🙂 💕
I love dogwood. They are so pretty!
Thank you, Kymber!
So very elegant, Eliza. I love the unfurling ostrich fern and dogwood is so special.
Many thanks, Jet!
Beautiful plant… The white flower makes it look so elegant!
Thank you for sharing, Eliza 🙂
Thank you very much, Sreejith!
Oh how lovely – the fern forms such an elegant part of your arrangement, which is all the better for being kept simple with just 3 components
Thank you, Cathy. I don’t usually do ‘simple’ but the dogwood begged for such a treatment. 🙂
Absolutely beautiful.
Thank you, Monika!
So creative. In PA there are some problems with Dogwoods, it looks like yours are doing fine.
The older (non-hybrid) dogwoods have been in decline for decades due to anthracnose, a fungus that is fatal over time. The hybrids are more resistant and quite hardy.
The limited palette and the simplicity of the arrangement both appeal, but those white bleeding hearts stole my heart!
Thank you, Linda. Glad you liked it, it was an idea that called to me.
Such a peaceful, elegant and unique arrangement…I think you enjoyed creating that!
Thank you, Alice. Yes, it was fun, I love following a thread of inspiration. 🙂
Striking!
Thank you, Judy! 🙂
Very attractive arrangement of shapes and colours, Eliza 😊
Thank you, Belinda. 🙂
Lovely combination, Eliza.
Thank you, Sandy!
My pleasure.
I love a little Zen in the afternoon. Wonderful to see some Dogwood! An old favorite.
Thank you, Amy! 🙏🏼
Absolutely perfect, Eliza! I love that you made the fern the centerpiece.

Thank you, Kris! The curled ferns were perfect for it and there is only a short window of time that they look like that. 🙂
So creative
Thank you, Karen. 🙂
The combination of white bleeding heart, fern and dogwood is lovely, elegant shapes and images.
Many thanks, Tom!
Elegant display, Eliza–that white and green is just lovely!
Thank you, Tina!
How amazing is this! I am so enjoying all the dogwood trees in Washington.
Thank you, Cindy. the PNW is well known for it wonderful landscaping. 🙂
So pretty Eliza!
Thank you, Maria!
I would never have thought of using these three together but they make such an interesting piece with the vase.
Thank you, Rebecca. Ikebana leads one to think simply. A calming practice!
This is lovely Eliza! Definitely a change from your usual vases and very calming too. Love the dogwood placed at the base.
Thank you, Cathy. Good to change things up every once in a while. 🙂
Simply lovely. It is blooming also in my garden but it is too small to gather any of the blooms. So I always enjoy seeing your arrangements. (Suzanne)
Merci, Suzanne!
What a gorgeous bouquet!!
Thank you, Dale. 🙂
Oh, I love those fern fronds with their spikey hair dos. Did you do anything to them to prepare them for vase life? All so pretty.

Thanks, Jenny. No, I didn’t do any prep beforehand. Some ferns will last in arrangements, my favorite is Christmas fern, it lasts well.
It seems odd to me that bleeding heart should show up in white, but how I like what you’ve done with this arrangement!
Thank you, Debbie. There is a fairly new coral bleeding heart as well, called ‘Cupid.’ 🙂
So beautiful!!
Thank you, Chris!
Fabulous
Thank you, Karina!
What a fascinating combination, love it!🙂
Thank you, S, glad you liked it. 💕
