It is delightful to have a garden full of flowers from which to create a vase or two whenever the inspiration hits me. Dahlia ‘Chilson’s Pride’ (light pink/white) and D. ‘Pinelands Princess’ (dark pink) are coming on strongly now, providing a base for this week’s arrangement. Purple and pink spider flower (Cleome hassleriana), purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea), pink and yellow zinnias (Z. elegans), and Hemerocallis ‘Hyperion’ vie for attention, while white/pink flowering tobacco (Nicotiana alata), white yarrow (Achillea millefolium), Verbena bonariensis and a sprig of anise hyssop (Agastache foeniculum) add the finishing touches.

Some more diminutive blossoms called to me to create a small vase (below) for the dining table. Orange pastel ‘Profusion’ zinnia (Z. angustifolia) and calendula (C. officinalis), flowering tobaccos (Nicotiana alata and N. langsdorffii, a favorite annual with lime green bells), orange hummingbird mint (Agastache ‘Poquito’), feverfew daisy (Tanacetum parthenium), Verbena bonariensis and seed pods of love-in-a-mist (Nigella damascena).

A ray of colors to start my week off Eliza, and thank you to Cathy. Its Monday lunch, dull and overcast here, and rain on the way. Gratefully received to brighten my day kind lady 🤗❤️🙏
Thank you, Mark. Glad you liked the bouquets. 🙂
Eliza, thank you for sharing your garden abundance. I’ve had a rough week. This pretty post brightened my evening.
Sorry to hear of your challenges, Alys, but glad my bouquets uplifted you a bit. 💕 🙏🏼
🌸🌹🌸
These are lovely!
Thank you, Rupali!
Your vases of flowers bring great joy!
Glad to know that, Anne. It is fun to share, better than just keeping them to myself. 🙂
All so lovely Eliza! Your garden must bring you so much joy at this time of year with such beautiful flowers. 😁
Thank you, Cathy! Like you, I’m happiest amidst the bees and butterflies. 🙂
Lovely arrangements. My dahlias are all looking green and healthy but so far not one bloom. Gardening sure has become a different journey each year. 🙂
Thank you, Judy. It is hard to predict anymore, we’ve had to adapt to “What you see, is what you get!”
Both vases are gorgeous and such happy colors.
Thank you, Alice!
You are making good use of an abundant supply of garden flowers. Beautiful arrangements — they radiate joy!
Thank you, Barbara. It is a happy time of year in the garden!
The trivet or plate beneath your second bouquet makes a lovely complement for it.
Thank you, Linda. It was made by a local potter, she has a lovely style.
So cheerful Eliza! Loving those yellow zinnias.
Thank you, Susie! I like that pastel yellow, too.
You certainly have an abundance of flowers. Mine tend to sleep during the hot days of summer.
Thank you, I can imagine the heat keeps them down until the temps become less extreme. When do your ‘fall flowers’ come on?
We have a second spring usually at the beginning of September or when the sun shifts. The season aren’t obvious, but I have been here long enough that I can now tell a slight change in the sunlight. The next season, which is technicality fall /winter is when we can plant the annuals that you grow in the summer.
Very pretty!! I
Thank you, glad you liked them! 💕
I like your combinations!
Thank you, Ellen. So much fun to put these together… I get lost in the Zone! 😉
Oh, I love these, Eliza. I used to get nicotiana to keep the bugs away from my garden. Can’t find them anywhere, now.
Beautiful.
Thank you, Dale. I can send you some seed, I have plenty of both. (My email is on my About page.)
You’re so sweet. If ever I get a nice flower garden going, I’ll let you know!
Very pretty vases today! I’m somehow drawn to the purple/mauve Cleome…
Thanks, Chris! I added some new pink/purple cleome last summer and the crosses have been great this summer. Those busy bees never let me down. 🙂
That’s a lovely mix of shapes, as well as colours! The second vase is super cute. Love the Agastache ‘Poquito’!
Thank you, Allison. I have a fondness for diminutive vases… there are quite a few in my collection and they get used a lot. 🌸🌼
And it is definitely a delight to your readers when you share these lovely blooms!!
Thank you, happy to share! 🙂
Such lovely combinations Eliza 💐 Your garden must be beautiful right now!
Thank you, Val. It is just slightly passing peak…it always reaches a crescendo late July/early August. There is always something in bloom all seasons, but the show is esp. abundant this time of year.
What a garden when you can make two such lovely and unique vases.
Thank you, Donna. Sometimes I think I should do more vases as many flowers don’t get a chance in the spotlight. I could be out there every day and seldom repeat myself. You remember what that was like in your old garden, I expect. 🙂
You must post some photos of your garden as I expect it’s in its glory right now, Eliza. I love your cheerful floral combinations. The inclusion of daylily blooms is a great idea – it’s a great way to show off those beautiful if fleeting blooms.

Thanks, Kris. I probably should do a garden post, but never seem to get around to taking the photos. 😉
I love using daylilies in a vase and don’t mind snapping old blooms off every morning. With several buds, they last several days.
Dancing Delights, indeed! Both arrangements are colorful and perky–perfect for this time in the growing season. Lovely!

Thank you, Beth!
You are certainly taking advantage of your abundance Eliza – and it is the soft yellows in the first vase that jump out at me, especially the zinnia. Love that little second vase too!
Thank you very much, Cathy. Gathering flowers for vases is such a pleasant pastime. 🙂
Oh yes, especially at this time of year!
These are so beautiful, I couldn’t begin to choose which I like best! I suppose I should try bringing in some of my garden flowers so I can enjoy them indoors, too, but I’m nowhere as skilled as you, Eliza!
Thank you, Debbie. You flatter me!
I encourage you to pick flowers for inside viewing, the season is short and we need to see them as much as we can. 🙂
These are so pretty, Eliza. They must bring joy to your home!
Thank you, Tina. I love having arrangements in the house, esp. ones made from my own gardens. Come winter, I have to rely on store-bought, which of course, isn’t quite the same!
Inspired creations 😊
🙂 Thanks, Belinda!
Wowsah, what colors in that big bouquet! On the other hand, I love the smaller bouquet, too. So delicate and pretty.
Thank you, Laurie! One can never have too many flowers, you know! 🙂
You bet!
It can take a minute to distinguish components of mixed vases. I could not find the yarrow right away, and yarrow is quite distinguishable. I learned yarrow as a native while in school, and believed that it was something special to California. I only recently learned that there are not many places in America that it is not native to, and one of the few places that it is not native to happens to be Imperial County in the Southeastern corner of California.
Being a great healing herb, Achillea millefolium was carried all over the world, mainly by armies that used it for clotting blood. Ugh, not something one wants to think about!
It is native here. Not many species are so thoroughly dispersed over so much of North America.
A profusion of flowers and bouquets, all beautiful.
Thank you, Tom. Much appreciated!
Such beautiful bouquets. How lucky that your garden is full of such pretties to make these cheerful arrangements.
Thank you, Monika. My garden is my happy place, for sure. 🙂
I can totally see why.
Do your friends come to you asking for bouquets?
Sadly, I get few visitors here, but those that do visit get a handful. Likewise, it is my standard hostess gift when I visit others.
Just so pretty – all of them. There is something very alluring about Cleome, the name and structure. I love the flowers of summer although not so much the heat but bringing them inside for me provides a lot of selfish pleasure and they last longer in a vase! IAVOM is a wonderful way to share.
Thank you, Jenny!
Did it again!
