Cathy at Words and Herbs is once again hosting her annual Week of Flowers to showcase flowers we grew in our gardens this year. As we head into the last month of the year, it is good to reflect on all the blessings that came our way during 2023. Gardens and flowers were just some the many for me.
Open to all, click the link to join in sharing Cathy’s parade of flowers. From her post:
“For the fourth year now I am inviting my blogging friends to join me in posting a photo of a flower or two from their 2023 gardens each day for a week. There are no rules, so just one photo (or two or three!) with or without text is fine, and if you leave a link in the comments of my daily post, others will be able to find you and share in the fun! And this year I will start on Friday December 1st, continuing through to Thursday December 7th.“

Those arching stems are so lovely. Do they have a fragrance? It’s no wonder I’ve never seen them; look at this map!
Thank you, Linda. No detectable fragrance. They prefer moist soil and cooler temps, not to be seen in TX!
It looks almost like Dicentra formosa, or some sort of Dicentra.
The gremlins changed the genus… used to be Dicentra. 😉
Gads!
I love Bledding Heart. Lovely.
Thank you, Cindy!
I have not seen these growing in gardens in South Africa – very attractive plants.
They are not drought tolerant, preferring moist soil, so not a candidate for your garden, I’d say. 🙂 Thank you, Anne.
Bleeding Hearts (‘Weeping Hearts’ in German😃) are so pretty and such a lovely reminder of late spring and all the lush growth at that time of year. I will probably always call them by their old name Dicentra though, as the new name sounds too fancy somehow! Thanks for sharing Eliza! 🤗
Thank you, Cathy!
I love these, the white version particularly…
Thank you, I have both and love them. 🙂
Beautiful! One of my long time favorites. 🩷
Thank you, Carrie! A flower shaped like a heart ❤️ how cool is that? 🙂
Yes, indeed. ❤️ I believe that was what drew me to them when I was a child. 😍
Be still my heart, this is one of my most favorite flowers. I had to move my plants because of outside work being done so next spring will be a time of waiting to see if they survived. I’m sure hoping they do.
Thank you, Judy. They are pretty tough, I hope so, too.
such a delicate flower
A beauty, for sure. 🙂
Flowers and leaves are so pretty, gradually followed by the seed pods.
Yes! Mine self-sow all over. 🙂
Lovely composition!
Thank you, Donna! 💕
A very attractive flower.
Always charms! 🙂
Beautiful – I look forward to these flowers every year.
Thank you, Ellen. So glad to know that!
Who doesn’t love bleeding hearts?
Exactly! 🙂 Thank you, Dale.
My pleasure, Eliza.
One of my favorite plants as a child! My grandmother showed me them.
Thank you, they are a childhood favorite. 🙂
I’ve always loved bleeding hearts. So pretty.
Thanks, Debra!
What a pretty color! These really stand out amidst all that green.
Beautiful Bleeding Heart…one of springtimes favorites around my garden.
Thank you, Monika. One of May’s loveliest blooms. 🙂
Such charming flowers!
I love the pink and green. A lot of winter white outside right now 😏
Thank you, Belinda. How much snow have you got so far?
Not too much really, a couple of inches (snow and ice mix). The trees look pretty 😊. How about you?
Nothing yet… but that front may be heading our way!
Oh boy, that so beautiful!
Thank you, Gary, it is a spring favorite for sure.
Lovely image of the arching bleeding hearts.
Thank you, Tom!
Such dainty and cheerful little flowers.
Thank you, Rebecca!
So beautiful. Sorry I have missed participating in this lovely meme this year. It is really a nice chance to look back.
Thank you, Susie!
I love the photos I see of bleeding heart plants yet I have never found one to buy! Maybe one day …
Thank you, Joanne. They might not do well in your climate, preferring cooler temps.
You won’t believe this, but I have just received an email from one of the suppliers I buy plants from online … the have a new plant in stock – a white bleeding heart! I have just the place for it too, when the new garden I am planning on building in a shaded area of my garden is made. 🙂
I hope it flourishes for you!
So do I! I’ll let you know. 😊
I love bleeding hearts! So delicate and a nice shade of pink with that little white accent. Very pretty!
Thank you!
