Lovely. My Iris Spuria are blooming too!
Thank you, Cindy. Those iris sound well adapted to your climate with their dormancy in the hot season. They are graceful in bloom!
Gorgeous!
Thank you, Sandy!
These petals have very pretty patterns on them.
Thank you, Anne. Reticulated iris are a lovely patterned species, always a joy to behold. 🙂
Very lovely, Eliza, and a beautiful way to start the day.
Thank you, Judy. It was lovely to discover this patch yesterday, confirming spring is coming. 🙂
👏🏽
Thanks, Jim!
What a pretty surprise to see growing amongst the leaves. What is that succulent? Looks like that spreads a lot.
Yes, it was a happy surprise when I saw it yesterday! They tend to do that, arising and blooming almost overnight. The succulent is
Sedum rupestre, and it does spread, but is easy to control. There is a yellow cultivar called ‘Angelina’ that you may have seen around. It is popular.
Spring, at last!
They have a subtle beauty to them 🙂
The deeper one looks, the prettier they are. 🙂
Yes. They are like the wall flower that catches your eye and the closer you get, the more lovely you see she is 😉
Yes! ❤
💞
Those are very pretty iris. Do they get any taller or are they more like crocus?
Thank you. They stay under 4″ and are among the earliest bulbs along with crocus and snowdrops.
And so the season begins! I always forget how early these flower, but they are so welcome when spied. 😃
Yes! You can imagine how delighted I was when I spotted them! 🙂
No Iris in bloom here yet, so these are a delight — thank you!!
Thank you, Debbie. Glad to share them!
They are very beautiful, Eliza! ☺️
Thanks, John. The first flowers of the year are very exciting. 🙂
Have a flowery day!
🙂 Thanks!
You are so lucky to already get some bloom. Here we have started seeing a few snowdrops and some early crocuses but nothing else as there are still some snow on the ground. Nice pic (Suzanne)
Thank you, Suzanne. Like you, we still have lots of snow, but the bare spots have some flowers.
Their delicate beauty shows off well against the mulch background. I tried growing the bulbs last year with nominal success so I didn’t keep them; however, I bet they would’ve appreciated conditions this year!
Thank you, Kris. I can imagine your conditions would be challenging for bulbs that don’t mind dry dormancy, but need moist, cool blooming conditions. Yes, this year would have been perfect for them!
So pretty! We’re a long way off, but I have tulips blooming inside.
Thanks, Ellen. We still have tons of snow, but I ‘cheat’ a little by planting early bulbs next to walks and the foundation so they come up first thing. 🙂
Looks like a group of little butterflies ready to take flight. So pretty!
Lovely analogy, Laurie, that they do. Thank you!
How beautiful! Are the stems very short? Looks so pretty among the brown leaves.
Thank you, yes, under 4″… they don’t last long, so I must look at them every day before they fade!
How nice to see😊
Yes, it really made my day! 🙂
Such pretty markings on the petals! Glad you are starting to get some colour.
Thank you, Adele– at last! 🙂
So pretty and dainty with those little dots and stripes welcoming spring!
Thank you, Barbara, they made my day! 🙂
How lovely. Iris petals have such lovely patterns. Ours are just greening up but the flowers are not quite here yet.
Thank you, Steve. These early ones are so reliable and show up every year. Glad they do!
Those little irises are among my favorite spring flowers!
Thank you, Lavinia… they an excellent choice! 🙂
Lovely shot of the iris. I always found them difficult to photograph in a way pleasing to the viewer, but never thought to capture them from directly overhead.
Thank you, Vicki. With these not exceeding 4″, overhead is about it! 😀
