What a wealth in that frozen water. Looks like a turtle shell at the top. Do you think that’s decaying organic matter releasing gas bubbles?
It was in a flooded area where the water formed large puddles, but I think the water continued to flow beneath and froze from the top down. That’s my best guess!
Eliza, another beautiful view of nature with the added title that inspires. Worthy of an extra moment of reflection.

I think that it might be it. We had a lot of rain followed by a rapid drop in temp. The water in this flooded area continued to run off for several days– as the levels dropped more bubbles formed.
That’s a new one for me. Nature never ceases to amaze!

Unreal. They remind me of buttons that were sold in tubes on the market. I can just imagine your amazement and how you must have been keeping your eye on this and drawn back to it, assuming it’s nearby.
The freezing and thawing since this shot about a month ago has been constantly changing the landscape. We haven’t had any consistently freezing weather since, at least not to form something like this. It was pretty unusual!
