I imagine it to be still, fresh-smelling and quiet there.

I almost went the same way! Always lovely the shadows cast by trees.

  4. I so love the look of tree shadows on the snow.

  5. Clean white snow is like a canvas just waiting for artwork. You captured a lovely one here.

Two trunks, become one long wintery shadow….with Spring promises soon to appear.

  7. Perfect undisturbed snow.

I especially like the bit of snow that’s been captured between the two trunks; it’s a baby drift!

  9. Pristine snow! It never stays that way here for more than five minutes

    Another beauty!

Ah, this is lovely! And you’re fortunate to find such a spot that hasn’t been trampled upon (though that, too, might make an interesting photo).

  14. I love your composition and the way you included the tree in this great, intimate scene. I too like and am always noticing tree shadows in the snow.

  15. Great tree shadow shot! I love the play of tree shadows. 🙂

  16. Wonderful, I love winter tree shadows!🙂

  17. Beautiful ~ I love the long shadows of winter, especially stretching across clean, white snow. 💙

I love this shadow. Still cold there??

    • Eliza Waters says:

Thank you, Karina. Yes, our temps will be chilly for a couple more months, with nightly frosts until May. Today’s high was around 5C, which is exciting for us, and may reach 10C on Sat. but a cold front is due and it’ll drop down to -15C at night. Beyond that, the next month will hover between -5 and +5C daily. Perfect weather for maple syrup production!

  20. Nice photo, Eliza. I also enjoy seeing and taking pictures of trees and other plants in winter, or of their shadows in the snow. One notices details of their bare beauty that aren’t visible at other times of the year.

  21. Wonderful winter shadows. I really like the elegant curve of that branch.

  22. Isha says:

You really see the world, don’t you, dear Eliza?

You still have a lot of snow, that is wonderful! It’s a peaceful photograph.
