    I love this. So beautiful!

  2. Maria says:

Very soothing. I can hear the wind whisper.

  3. Adele Brand says:

The grasses in the background add to the effect – very nice. I need to get better at identifying wild grasses. There is a book on my shelf but they are such a challenging group!

    • Eliza Waters says:

Thank you, Adele. I know a few, but there are so many, a lot non-native. I feel the same way about ferns, lichens and moss– tough to learn them all. 🙂

  4. Soft and soothing tranquility, so lovely, Eliza…

    • Eliza Waters says:

Thank you, Barbara. Thinking of you as we head into this storm. I realized last night that the full moon is going to make the surge extra high… not good timing. Stay safe and well.

  5. There is something wonderful about watching grass sway in the breeze…

I’m struck by the beautiful but subtle colors here….a very calming palette.

    very reflective of today

  9. Alice says:

The beauty of simplicity. Have you seen birds eating the seeds?

    dew me too
    you the rain came
    and still the same
    some dolts
    still watering
    what a waste
a taste of judgement on my soul
    my temper to unroll~!

  11. Isha Garg says:

Storytelling picture, this! Looks like stormy weather’s on the way, brace yourself like the strong grass! Take care, Eliza ❤️

  12. Tina says:

I love the grasses and that’s a beautiful capture. Are you in the path of the storm? If so, be safe and stay dry.

    • Eliza Waters says:

Thank you, Tina. Henri seems to be tracking just to the east of us, which means we’ll get lots of rain but not as bad wind as the shear is on the eastern side, not the western. Small miracles. With all our large trees, it is a worrisome combination nonetheless.

  13. Ally Bean says:

    Nice perspective. A lovely photo

  14. Beautiful, beautiful capture!

  15. sandyjwhite says:

    Simple…but so nice it is!

  16. I imagine they are doing a bit of waving in this gentle breeze we are having today. 🙂 I like the various angles the different grasses have here, Eliza.

  18. Cathy says:

Lovely photos Eliza. Hope the coming storm doesn’t hit your area too hard. xx

  19. Jane Lurie says:

Love. Appealing angles and nice aperture, Eliza. 🙂

  20. Debbie says:

Most of us gravitate to the showy flowers, but even the grasses have a special beauty, don’t they? Hope you’re managing to stay safe this weekend from Henri’s onslaught.

    • Eliza Waters says:

Thank you, Debbie. I do love grasses, particularly now that the fall bloomers are coming on.
So far, the past 6 hours, we’ve had gusty winds and rain. The eye is about 100 miles away and heading right for us. 😦 But it is slowing down, which may or may not be a good thing. I expect we’ll have received a lot of rain come it’s end Monday night.

  21. Murtagh's Meadow says:

Lovely – like an impressionist painting

  22. Irene says:

Lovely, Eliza. Please take care. 😊

  23. Kris P says:

I thought of you this morning when I heard that Henri was expected to blow through the Northeast. I’ve got my fingers crossed that all will be well!

    • Eliza Waters says:

Thank you, Kris. It seems that Henri wasn’t as fierce as forecasted, I’m happy to say. Gusty winds around 30 mph, but not too bad, 1.5″ rain today, with showers through tomorrow night for a 2-4″ total is doable for us. I was worried about flooding, but I think we dodged the bullet this time, thankfully.

  24. Robin says:

I love this, Eliza. It’s simple and beautiful and it made me feel at peace. ❤

  25. susurrus says:

A beautiful calm shot, but one that leaves us imagining what the effect of wind and rain would be. Reading your comments, I have hope that you came through the storm safely.

  26. So pretty against the green!

  27. Not having heard of this genus, I looked it up. On the website of the Missouri Botanical Garden I found an interesting fact: “C. × acutifolia, commonly known as feather reed grass, is a hybrid resulting from a cross between two species native to Europe and Asia, namely C. arundinacea and C. epigejos. This hybrid occurs naturally, but somewhat infrequently, in Europe.”

  28. Sam Hankss says:

Beautiful Eliza, thank you for sharing.

  29. rajkkhoja says:

    Awesome pic. I like.

  30. Nicely seen! I like the layered effect … tan over green.

  31. Silent and beautiful dancing in the breezes…. 🙂
