Thank you, Maria. It’s been downgraded to a tropical storm, so the winds are less scary. There will still be lots of rain and flooding, so we’ll see how that plays out. ❤
The grasses in the background add to the effect – very nice. I need to get better at identifying wild grasses. There is a book on my shelf but they are such a challenging group!

I did hear some term it as a hurricane! Praying it doesn’t live up to the hype.
Agreed, one has to filter news to determine when to be cautious and when to discount. I’m watching the satellite images more than listening to the forecasters!

Thank you, Tina. Henri seems to be tracking just to the east of us, which means we’ll get lots of rain but not as bad wind as the shear is on the eastern side, not the western. Small miracles. With all our large trees, it is a worrisome combination nonetheless.

Most of us gravitate to the showy flowers, but even the grasses have a special beauty, don’t they? Hope you’re managing to stay safe this weekend from Henri’s onslaught.
Thank you, Debbie. I do love grasses, particularly now that the fall bloomers are coming on.
So far, the past 6 hours, we’ve had gusty winds and rain. The eye is about 100 miles away and heading right for us. 😦 But it is slowing down, which may or may not be a good thing. I expect we’ll have received a lot of rain come it’s end Monday night.
Stay safe (and dry!), Eliza. Those tropical storms can be tricksters!

I thought of you this morning when I heard that Henri was expected to blow through the Northeast. I’ve got my fingers crossed that all will be well!
Thank you, Kris. It seems that Henri wasn’t as fierce as forecasted, I’m happy to say. Gusty winds around 30 mph, but not too bad, 1.5″ rain today, with showers through tomorrow night for a 2-4″ total is doable for us. I was worried about flooding, but I think we dodged the bullet this time, thankfully.

So pretty against the green!
Not having heard of this genus, I looked it up. On the website of the Missouri Botanical Garden I found an interesting fact: “C. × acutifolia, commonly known as feather reed grass, is a hybrid resulting from a cross between two species native to Europe and Asia, namely C. arundinacea and C. epigejos. This hybrid occurs naturally, but somewhat infrequently, in Europe.”
