Thank you, Lavanya – I agree, that they are! ๐
Very nice! There is a bluebird family in our mulberry tree. They showed up a few years ago, and have been doing fine, except for one year that local cats got to the nest.
Itโs going to be 70 here tomorrow, so Iโm hoping the only winter left for me is in your images!
Ooooh – lovely! I’ve seen them in MN only once.
Thank you, their numbers seem to be increasing here in MA, and this is the first time I’ve ever seen them visit the feeders. Happy about that!
So sweet ๐๐
๐ Thanks, Karen!

Thank you for reblogging!
Such pretty birds Eliza. Love the photo with the outstretched wing. ๐
Thank you, Cathy. I included that shot because it showed just how blue they are on top. Gorgeous!
What an uplifting sight in the snow. The blue of the feathers is so striking and attractive.
Lovely shots ๐
Thank you, Vicki. They are fine visitors! x
What glorious colours, Eliza. An entire pastel palette in a bird…
Thank you, Steve. The male is such a striking blue, the females are more muted. Always a pleasure to see them in the yard.
So this is what a bluebird looks like! These are delightful photographs, Eliza.
Thank you, Anne. I love having these birds visit the feeders, as they tend to be shy, it is hard to get close enough for photos. These were taken from inside.
They can play on swings as well
๐ Thanks, Derrick!
๐๐๐
Thank you!
What a joy! I wonder if they know how beautiful and special they are..although all birds are beautiful and special.
They really are a joy. I always love seeing them.
Wow…you have bluebirds already? Great photos….. they really show that color!
Our bluebirds have stayed all winter, eating up all the Ilex berries. It’s only recently that they’ve turned to the suet. So nice to see that bright blue!
They brighten the day right ๐
They sure do!
๐ have a great time in warmer temps I want to hit up Crane’s Beach today but was not sure about the parking situation. I need a long slow walk.
Enjoy! I love that area.
Wonderful shots, Eliza!
Thank you, D!
I’m sure they’re here, but I’ve never seen a bluebird except in my aunt’s Kansas City backyard. These are lovely, especially with that snowy background to emphasize their color.
Thank you, Linda. There are different species, Western and Mountain Bluebirds, that may be in your area. Not sure of their ranges though.
Great photograph. We have been getting up to a dozen bluebirds at a time at our feeders. They are eating both suet and seeds.
Thank you, K. That’s a lot of blues! It’s interesting to see how they are adapting to winter here.
Those little birdies brought a smile to my face. ๐
Glad to know that, thanks, Carol!
Thrilling!
Yes, indeed. I was happy to see them using the suet. They’ve eaten every Ilex berry on the place!
For some reason , I can only see back half of bird; picture is split. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Thanks, Chris. Perhaps try viewing it in a new window? There are two images, click on one to embiggen and an arrow should lead to the next. Hope that works!
Great pictures. I especially like the bottom one. They are so pretty.
Thank you, Vicki. It is such a treat when these come close to the house. I need to get out and clean the bird house, just in case… ๐
Wish those beauties would come to our backyard. Too wooded for them, I think.
Yes, they like open areas like pastures. They check out our bluebird nest box every year, but even our yard isn’t open enough for them. Luckily, our neighbor up the road has a big field with lots of boxes, so they nest there. They love to gobble our holly berries ๐ but this is the first I’ve ever seen them at the feeders. Love that!
These I like! I’ve never seen a real one, but I sure hope to some day — their color almost looks jewel-like. Lapis, perhaps.
Thank you, Debbie. Lapis is a perfect description, they are a happy sight, for sure. ๐
Beautiful birds and wonderful images Eliza! xxx
Thank you, Xenia!
Beautiful birfd
Sorry birds
Yes, they are remarkably brilliant in color, always a treat to see (and hear, I love their trilling call).
Seesaw, with the reward in the balance!
Yes, and they had that feeder swinging and spinning as well!
Blue birds with a blue cage
May soon be all the rage.
๐ Thanks, Steve.
Beautiful photo! I can never get the camera out in time for the feeder folk.
I might have to upgrade and add a suet feeder, having the bluebird of happiness come by would be absolutely worth it ๐
Thank you, Frank. This is the first year I’ve ever seen them at the suet feeder, so I was thrilled. I’ve heard that they like meal worms, particularly during nesting season, but I am rather squeamish about serving those up! ๐
Dinner date! ๐
Ha, yes! โค
So sweet! I didn’t even know there was a western blue bird (actually a thrush) until some friends on the other side of the peninsula commented on them. I’ve yet to see one here, I’m sorry to say.
Thank you, Kris. They are such a lovely bird to see, the males like patches of sky brought to earth.
Beautiful.
Thank you!
Lucky you! Although our neighbourhood is a former farm which I am sure hosted them, we never have had a bluebird at our feeders or anywhere else in the yard.Nice to see the pair. Funny how males are more often the prettier ones amongst creatures except for humans who are the only things that care about beauty for its own sake.:-)
Thanks, Steve. I try to entice them to nest in the yard, but have never been successful. They do like my holly berries in winter, though. ๐
Spring must be around the corner!
Thanks, Barbara. It feels like it with the longer days and temps finally getting above freezing to melt our mounds of snow. ๐
My favorite bird of all! Super captures Eliza!
Thank you kindly, Denise! ๐
No words required ๐. Lovely!
Thank you, Belinda!
Beautiful captures, Eliza! Gosh that blue! ๐๐
Thank you, Julie! Bluebirds are simply amazing. ๐
beautiful wings…great shot.
Have a wonderful day
Thank you, Tanza!
Wow so blue
IKR? Love that gorgeous color!
I love bluebirds and the wonderful capture of the couple! We had a few visit for a week, but I was never able to get a photo.
Thank you, Susan. They are delightful to see. I’m glad the males retain their deep blue plumage year-round.
Great captures as always ๐
Thanks much!
Oh my goodness! That color! Those wings! Great pics, Eliza.
Thank you, Alys! They are lovely birds. ๐
So cute! I love the pop of blue against the white snow. โค
Thanks, Joanne. These are one of my favorites, so pretty!
Bluebirds make my heart sing. Your photography does them justice. There has been a campaign on Skidaway Island where I live, to help the bluebirds by putting blue bird houses on all 6 golf courses in our community. In the 6 years I have lived here, bluebirds have become regular occurrences and my own bluebird house is regularly occupied! Such a joy.
They truly are one of our most beautiful birds. Glad that your area supports them.
Nice bluebird family.
Thank you! I hope they nest soon. ๐
