  1. Very nice! There is a bluebird family in our mulberry tree. They showed up a few years ago, and have been doing fine, except for one year that local cats got to the nest.

Itโ€™s going to be 70 here tomorrow, so Iโ€™m hoping the only winter left for me is in your images!

  2. swesely says:

Ooooh – lovely! I’ve seen them in MN only once.

  3. Karen Lang says:

    So sweet ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ’•

Such pretty birds Eliza. Love the photo with the outstretched wing. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  6. Vicki says:

What an uplifting sight in the snow. The blue of the feathers is so striking and attractive.
    Lovely shots ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Steve Tanham says:

What glorious colours, Eliza. An entire pastel palette in a bird…

  8. Anne says:

So this is what a bluebird looks like! These are delightful photographs, Eliza.

  9. They can play on swings as well

  11. Alice says:

What a joy! I wonder if they know how beautiful and special they are..although all birds are beautiful and special.

  12. Treah Pichette says:

Wow…you have bluebirds already? Great photos….. they really show that color!

  13. They brighten the day right ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. derrycats says:

    Wonderful shots, Eliza!

  15. shoreacres says:

I’m sure they’re here, but I’ve never seen a bluebird except in my aunt’s Kansas City backyard. These are lovely, especially with that snowy background to emphasize their color.

  16. ke01341 says:

Great photograph. We have been getting up to a dozen bluebirds at a time at our feeders. They are eating both suet and seeds.

  17. Those little birdies brought a smile to my face. ๐Ÿ™‚

  19. Chris says:

For some reason , I can only see back half of bird; picture is split. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

  20. tippysmom2 says:

Great pictures. I especially like the bottom one. They are so pretty.

  21. Wish those beauties would come to our backyard. Too wooded for them, I think.

    • Eliza Waters says:

Yes, they like open areas like pastures. They check out our bluebird nest box every year, but even our yard isn’t open enough for them. Luckily, our neighbor up the road has a big field with lots of boxes, so they nest there. They love to gobble our holly berries ๐Ÿ™‚ but this is the first I’ve ever seen them at the feeders. Love that!

  22. Debbie says:

These I like! I’ve never seen a real one, but I sure hope to some day — their color almost looks jewel-like. Lapis, perhaps.

  23. Tranature - quiet moments in nature says:

Beautiful birds and wonderful images Eliza! xxx

  24. Murtagh's Meadow says:

    Beautiful birfd

  25. Seesaw, with the reward in the balance!

  26. Blue birds with a blue cage
May soon be all the rage.

  27. bittster says:

Beautiful photo! I can never get the camera out in time for the feeder folk.
I might have to upgrade and add a suet feeder, having the bluebird of happiness come by would be absolutely worth it ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Eliza Waters says:

Thank you, Frank. This is the first year I’ve ever seen them at the suet feeder, so I was thrilled. I’ve heard that they like meal worms, particularly during nesting season, but I am rather squeamish about serving those up! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  28. Dinner date! ๐Ÿ˜Š

  29. Kris P says:

So sweet! I didn’t even know there was a western blue bird (actually a thrush) until some friends on the other side of the peninsula commented on them. I’ve yet to see one here, I’m sorry to say.

  30. DiosRaw says:

  31. Lucky you! Although our neighbourhood is a former farm which I am sure hosted them, we never have had a bluebird at our feeders or anywhere else in the yard.Nice to see the pair. Funny how males are more often the prettier ones amongst creatures except for humans who are the only things that care about beauty for its own sake.:-)

  32. Spring must be around the corner!

  33. My favorite bird of all! Super captures Eliza!

  34. No words required ๐Ÿ˜Š. Lovely!

  35. Jewels says:

Beautiful captures, Eliza! Gosh that blue! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ˜

  36. beautiful wings…great shot.

  37. dylan hereford says:

    Wow so blue

  38. I love bluebirds and the wonderful capture of the couple! We had a few visit for a week, but I was never able to get a photo.

  39. Great captures as always ๐Ÿ™‚

  40. Oh my goodness! That color! Those wings! Great pics, Eliza.

  41. Joanne says:

So cute! I love the pop of blue against the white snow. โค

  42. Bluebirds make my heart sing. Your photography does them justice. There has been a campaign on Skidaway Island where I live, to help the bluebirds by putting blue bird houses on all 6 golf courses in our community. In the 6 years I have lived here, bluebirds have become regular occurrences and my own bluebird house is regularly occupied! Such a joy.

  43. rajkkhoja says:

    Nice bluebird family.
