Very nice! There is a bluebird family in our mulberry tree. They showed up a few years ago, and have been doing fine, except for one year that local cats got to the nest.
It’s going to be 70 here tomorrow, so I’m hoping the only winter left for me is in your images!
Ooooh – lovely! I’ve seen them in MN only once.

Our bluebirds have stayed all winter, eating up all the Ilex berries. It’s only recently that they’ve turned to the suet. So nice to see that bright blue!

I’m sure they’re here, but I’ve never seen a bluebird except in my aunt’s Kansas City backyard. These are lovely, especially with that snowy background to emphasize their color.
Thank you, Linda. There are different species, Western and Mountain Bluebirds, that may be in your area. Not sure of their ranges though.
Great photograph. We have been getting up to a dozen bluebirds at a time at our feeders. They are eating both suet and seeds.

Yes, they like open areas like pastures. They check out our bluebird nest box every year, but even our yard isn’t open enough for them. Luckily, our neighbor up the road has a big field with lots of boxes, so they nest there. They love to gobble our holly berries 🙂 but this is the first I’ve ever seen them at the feeders. Love that!
These I like! I’ve never seen a real one, but I sure hope to some day — their color almost looks jewel-like. Lapis, perhaps.

Thank you, Frank. This is the first year I’ve ever seen them at the suet feeder, so I was thrilled. I’ve heard that they like meal worms, particularly during nesting season, but I am rather squeamish about serving those up! 😉

So sweet! I didn’t even know there was a western blue bird (actually a thrush) until some friends on the other side of the peninsula commented on them. I’ve yet to see one here, I’m sorry to say.

Lucky you! Although our neighbourhood is a former farm which I am sure hosted them, we never have had a bluebird at our feeders or anywhere else in the yard.Nice to see the pair. Funny how males are more often the prettier ones amongst creatures except for humans who are the only things that care about beauty for its own sake.:-)

Bluebirds make my heart sing. Your photography does them justice. There has been a campaign on Skidaway Island where I live, to help the bluebirds by putting blue bird houses on all 6 golf courses in our community. In the 6 years I have lived here, bluebirds have become regular occurrences and my own bluebird house is regularly occupied! Such a joy.
They truly are one of our most beautiful birds. Glad that your area supports them.
