    Oh, so so beautiful!!

  2. These are beautiful images, but Iโ€™m happy to experience them from afar. Itโ€™s interesting how winter brings beauty and misery.

I just discovered how beautiful Rosemary blossoms are. Thatโ€™s been my gift from winter this year. Itโ€™s cheering to know spring is next!

  3. cindy knoke says:

    So beautiful Eliza! Stay warm.

  4. Beautiful, but ice can damage plants. I’m glad we don’t get ice storms here; the recent snow was enough already!

    • Eliza Waters says:

Thank you, Audrey. Yes, we dodged the bullet with the warm temps in the afternoon melting most of it. If it stayed cold, the cold front’s winds coming through last night would have done a fair amount of damage. Others weren’t so lucky, esp. poor Texas.

  5. susurrus says:

Ooh – that looks so cold. I hope this post means your power is still on! They showed the weather map for the USA on the news yesterday – that’s quite some cold spell.

    • Eliza Waters says:

It wasn’t too bad here and most melted by the end of the day, thankfully freeing the plants. My heart goes out to gardeners in Texas and Oregon, they are going to lose a lot of tender plants, what a blow.

  6. Stunning images, Eliza! Amazing how icy cold can be so beautiful…

  7. I don’t like to walk or drive on it, but I sure do love looking at it. Lovely shots.

  8. Alice says:

    Temporarily encased.

  9. Great ice images Eliza! Enjoyed seeing them!

  10. Same here! Fortunately the storm was fast moving and the build-up wasn’t too bad. No power outages, the way there have been in other parts of the country.

  11. Tranature - quiet moments in nature says:

That’s very icy Eliza and it looks beautiful! ๐Ÿ’–

  12. Debbie says:

Ice has a way of outlining everything in beauty — which you’ve captured here. Thanks, Eliza — stay warm!

  13. Beautiful icy photos! My two favorites are the first and last.

  14. Definitely looks cold. I was admiring someone’s capture of ghost/ice apples just last week and was thinking that the chances of seeing them was quite low … and there you are with a shot of one, just thrown in! Well spotted.

    • Eliza Waters says:

Thank you, Allison! Everything gets coated. ๐Ÿ™‚ The temps rose above freezing for a few hours and most of the ice fell off the trees, which was a relief. A sharp wind blew through overnight, so I was glad the weight was off them.

  15. Beautiful shots, Eliza! Ice is such a delightful subject!!

  16. derrycats says:

    Brrrrrrr!!!

  17. Kris P says:

Pretty! It was odd to see so many Bloom Day posts featuring flowers encased in ice this month. At least you’re used to it.

  18. Murtagh's Meadow says:

Very pretty, but chilly I bet.

    • Eliza Waters says:

Thank you, Karina. It wasn’t too bad and I’m grateful that it got warm enough to melt it off the trees, as it got very cold overnight and now we’re due for more snow tomorrow. A very busy winter, weather-wise!

  19. Adele Brand says:

Winter is a brutal but magical jeweller. I saw an ice storm in Saskatchewan once and you never forget that shimmering silver over everything. Keep warm!

  20. Widdershins says:

    Amazing stuff, ice. ๐Ÿ™‚

  21. Jane Lurie says:

Such pretty formations, Eliza. Stay warm!

  22. l love that comment winter being a magical jeweler! Yes, Winter is genius. What evergreen is that?

  23. M.B. Henry says:

Ice is too cold but it sure does make for lovely photos. Well done!

  24. spanishwoods says:

    Really beautiful shots Eliza

  25. Such pretty scenes. Very nice, Eliza!

  26. Love the icy photos, especially the exquisite fourth shot!! Just in case you were wondering, there is less than 30 days until spring.

  27. Robin says:

I know it can be destructive, but it’s also so pretty. Beautiful captures, Eliza. ๐Ÿ™‚

  28. For once I can say that Austin has been looking the same.

    • Eliza Waters says:

Yes, I feel badly for Texans, this has been quite the challenge. Hope it warms up soon.

      • The prediction is for the temperature to get a little above freezing this afternoon before falling back into the 20s overnight, which will cause melted snow and ice to refreeze and keep many walkways and roads treacherous. Saturday the temperature is supposed to rise above freezing and finally stay there.

  29. bittster says:

Beautiful captures. I love ice, but like others say… the breakage!

  30. Vivek Sharma says:

Loved the clicks. Keep it up.

  31. Despite its mischievous habit, maybe more serious than that at times, freezing rain sure does dress up nature beautifully…not that nature isn’t beautiful without the icing.

  32. Jewels says:

Just catching up on some posts I’ve missed and this one is lovely Eliza! ๐Ÿ˜

  33. That made me feel like Christmas was coming but we are heading to Spring of course. Lovely Photo.

  34. dylan hereford says:

    Wow that’s cool

  35. Joanne says:

    Gorgeous ice-on-green. ๐Ÿ™‚
