  1. This could be anywhere right here in the Swedish countryside, you even have the stonewall!

    • Eliza Waters says:

I didn’t realize Sweden has lots of stone walls, but it makes sense. All northern countries that were covered with glaciers must have stone walls, so much debris was left when they receded. And more surface every year when the frost heaves! I pull more out of my gardens each year.

  2. Isha Garg says:

Wow! I wish I was there right now! ❤️ Merry Christmas, Eliza!

  3. cindy knoke says:

    Amazement! Happy New Year Eliza.

  4. Joanne says:

My goodness, look at all the green grass! Very pretty, but so unexpected.

  5. Murtagh's Meadow says:

    Such a pretty setting

  6. Truly New England! The only snow we have left are the banks.

  7. pbmgarden says:

    That was fast! Beautiful!

  8. neihtn2012 says:

Our snow also melted a few days ago.

  9. Alice says:

It must have been beautiful with a snow cover.

  10. Treah Pichette says:

The weather can’t decide what season it wants to live in!

  11. Your photo reminds me of my time in New England. There were stone fences everywhere. We do not have rocks where I live.

  12. Robin says:

Such a lovely scene. I love the stone wall. 🙂

  13. Alicia says:

Take away the New England dry stack wall and it looks like a scene from North Carolina.

  14. Jane Lurie says:

I love the serene feeling I get looking at your lovely image, Eliza.

  15. Widdershins says:

Our Christmas snow is just about all gone too, but it was magical. 😀

  16. Love the view, but if we’re really not going to have steady snow on the ground this winter I say we skip ahead to March!😁

  17. Wow, that was fast! Very nice capture, Eliza!

  18. Kris P says:

We’re all riding weather roller-coasters these days it seems!

  19. naturebackin says:

What a remarkable transformation from last week’s snow. I suppose the milder temps are a compensation but I am wondering how muddy it is underfoot! Sending very best wishes for the New Year – whatever the weather! And of course hopefulness for the year ahead.

    • Eliza Waters says:

Thank you, Carol. For a couple of days there was a fair amount of standing water everywhere, as the ground was still frozen a few inches down, not allowing penetration. Most water ended up running off into streams into the watershed. Our stream and waterfall are still higher than normal, the falls were roaring!
Thanks for the new year wishes, let’s hope for a better year than the last.

      • naturebackin says:

That is interesting – I had not given a thought to frozen ground! The waterfall must be spectacular as well as loud!
Yes, we are all hoping for a better year …

What a peaceful shot ~ and it seems fitting for the last few days of the year, a bit of reflection and relaxation. We have a bit of this in Eastern Oregon now, a surprise flurry of snow Christmas day now melted, and a dreary calm outside today…which I found perfect for taking the dog for a walk 🙂 Wishing you well as you end 2020. Take care.

  21. It snowed here today, then it all melted. Mild start to winter…

  22. Nice golden acreage, Eliza. 🙂 Doesn’t look like much snow on the offing.

  23. Adele Brand says:

Wow! That is very definitely melted. We had an extremely mild first half to December but the weather here is now pretty much normal for England. I think it’s a La Nina year with an upset polar vortex, or something like that.

  24. ladyfi says:

Lovely! (All our snow has melted too.)

  25. Is this your place Eliza? It’s a beautiful setting.

  26. gaiainaction says:

When I saw your photo, I thought… New England! Beautiful!
