Today is the last day of Cathy’s (Words and Herbs) weekly flower challenge, which has been quite popular and successful in cheering us all up:

“From Sunday the 22nd through to Saturday the 28th let’s share a photo a day (or more than one if you like) of our flowers and gardens and brighten up this dreary time.”

Click the link above to see more cheerful floral photos, and join us if you wish by publishing your own post!

Thanks, Cathy, it’s been a blast!

  3. Cathy says:

Thank YOU Eliza! A gorgeous slideshow today covering spring, summer and early autumn too. It’s nice to be reminded of all that is to come round again next year! 😃 Have a great weekend! 🤗

  4. Nice! There were one or two that I think I missed on the first time around so thanks for the show. 🙂

Pure bliss to be surrounded by flowers.

  8. I sure enjoyed clicking through your slideshow to see the beautiful flowers from your garden. A burst of good cheer in this season of hope.

    • Eliza Waters says:

Thank you, Laurie. We had a good garden season, despite the lack of rain. This exercise helped me to ‘put my garden to bed’ for the next few months. March isn’t too far off. 🙂

  9. March Picker says:

Beautiful selections to round out a great week, Eliza. May we all feel bolstered by the blooms shared this week. Stay well!

  10. Memories of spring, thank you for this week of cheer Eliza.

  11. Jane Lurie says:

Gorgeous collection, Eliza. Your images brighten my mood. 🙂

  12. Kris P says:

Lovely! Even here, I’m already looking forward to the return of bulb blooms. The foliage of Sparaxis and Freesia is already up and even that of the Dutch Iris and anemones is getting started.

  13. Murtagh's Meadow says:

Gorgeous – especially that columbine – such a beautiful colour

  14. Beautiful flowers and photos and I’ve never said this before in November, but I’m ready for spring!🙂

    • Eliza Waters says:

Thank you, S! This milder weather has me a bit spoiled, it’s hard to imagine the ground will ever freeze and that winter will come. But NE weather can change in a minute!

  15. sweetbay103 says:

Beautiful slideshow and fitting finale to the week! The burgundy columbine is a stunner.

  16. Love it – condensed parade of floral beauty…

  17. tippysmom2 says:

Lovely flowers captured beautifully by your lens! I agree with other, that Columbine is a stunner. Thanks for sharing.

  18. This have been a very positive week with all the flowers! Thank you for spreading such joy 🙂

  19. Joanne says:

It HAS been a blast, I agree. 🙂
Do you have a variety of all colours of flowers in your garden, Eliza? I’m always trying to colour coordinate my plants, yet you seem to have every colour there is, and all so beautiful too.

    • Eliza Waters says:

I generally buy a plant because I like the way it looks, with a vague idea where I’ll plant it. I wouldn’t say I have an overall plan that I follow other than shade, sun requirements. 30 years ago, I filled notebooks with garden plans, but nature is not static, the gardens evolve, so very little remains of the original. A rather rambling answer. Did I answer your question? 😉

  20. your blog is amazing!

  21. naturebackin says:

These are lovely images recapping floral highlights from the summer. The colour of those crocuses make them something of a standout.

  22. Debbie says:

Ooh, a slide show, with LOTS of beautiful flowers! Outstanding job, Eliza — and thank you for such a delicious treat away from the browns of autumn.

  23. Tranature - quiet moments in nature says:

A beautiful slideshow Eliza, this has been such a lovely series! 🧡 xxx

  24. AmyRose🌹 says:

Ohhhhh, Eliza!!! When I saw the Columbine, tears stung my eyes. What a glorious show you gave us! Thank you so much!! xo

  25. pbmgarden says:

Great idea to collect these images into a slideshow Eliza. I don’t grow roses except for one passalong, but your New Dawn rose is tempting. Nice to see the vases too. This was a fun week.

    • Eliza Waters says:

Thank you, Susie. It was a lot of fun. ‘New Dawn’ is the only rose I’ve ever bought and grown, as I am not fond of thorny things. When it blooms, it is worth it. David Austin roses still tempt me though.

  26. Lovely to step through the year this way! That aquilegia is a gorgeous shade.

  27. Eliza I love the flower slide show – I love all your flowers, they are magnificent, especially the columbine, rose and dahlias. You have a wonderful garden that gives you these divine flowers: enjoy it. Take care. Very affectionate greetings from Margarita.

  28. Great images and slide show. I admire your botanical expertise and I’m so glad you share it too!

  29. Jet Eliot says:

Thanks for the stunning array of flowers and arrangements, Eliza. Nice to see the early spring as well as summer flowers. My favorite photos were the dahlia arrangement, burgundy columbine and crocus. This has been a pleasant series, my thanks for your cheerful contribution.
