I meant this to be mostly blue and purple, but I got distracted while out picking– easy to do! I started with Lamb’s Ears (Stachys byzantina), Catmint (Nepeta racemosa) and cobalt blue Speedwell (Veronica ‘Crater Lake Blue’) to go with my Japanese porcelain vase.
Then the Korean Dogwood (Cornus kousa) was looking wonderful, so a few blossoms were selected. The Japanese Lantern Columbine (Aquilegia) had to be shown as well. I wandered by some common Oxeye Daisies (Leucanthemum vulgare), which begged to be included, so in they went, too.
Maybe my next arrangement will be more controlled… though I make no promises!Linking to Rambling in the Garden‘s In A Vase on Monday.
White is better than purple anyway.
I love all the colors – that’s why I get distracted. 🙂
So pretty
Thank you, Sheree!
Loveliness always Eliza!
My daughter has just bought a house near us. Different gardening zone. We are plant shopping, and I am plant removing, sadly, because the previous owner of her house, planted all theses big growth tropicals too close to the house, foundation et. al. So a multi-trunk palm is going. I would save them but the roots are under foundation so I can’t.
There is this beautiful multi-trunk tropical tree, too close to structure of course, which we want to keep, by trimming back the trunks too close to the house. I think it is in the banana family, but I am not good with this. I have some photos I wish I could send you.
You would be wonderful to go plant shopping with right now. Andrea would love you, as do I.
How nice to have Andrea and the grand-twins nearby. You must be thrilled!
I definitely would love to go plant shopping with you! The creative hit I get from designing/imagining a new garden is sooo addictive (in the best way, of course). 🙂
Feel free to email me questions or pix (address on my About page). I’d love to help if I could.
PS- This is the only sort of shopping, besides groceries (read food), that I actually like დ
What a beautiful vase. The blue of the Veronica is wonderfully intense. Elegance as always. 🙂
Thank you very much, Sandra!
Reblogged this on Blue Dragon Journal.
Gorgeous and with my favourite flower colours too.
May your next arrangement be just as ‘uncontrolled’ as this beautiful array. Love it 🙂
🙂 Thank you, Vicki!
I’m so glad you lost control as this is such a lovely combination Eliza and the vase itself is gorgeous too! 💜
Thank you so much, Xenia!
Just gorgeous, Eliza. Such a sense of colour and proportion!
Aw, thanks for the praise, Steve, much appreciated!
Very very pretty. You are inspirational. I feel that I should go out and pick some flowers myself.
Thank you, Maria. You have some lovely wildflowers around you. Did you save any of the lupines to bring inside to enjoy?
There is flowers everywhere around. I did not save any lupins this time, but I’ve had many beautiful vases of them throughout spring. There will be more in a couple weeks..
As we were waiting at a lock yesterday a man came out with a bunch of lavender from his allotment and gave it to me. So kind, so French. I don’t have a suitable vase so it’s in an old pasta jar and not a patch on your beautiful arrangement, but it smells heavenly and looks lovely to me!
Oh, that is so nice and thoughtful! Lavender dries well (hung upside down to dry) and then you’d have a dried arrangement that would release its scent every time you brushed your hand over it!
A mixed vase indeed, but loving the combination, Eliza!
Thank you very much, Anita!
The color of that Speedwell is stunning! Such a deep, rich color not often seen.
Thank you, Cindy. That Speedwell I’ve had for years and after coming close to losing it from overshadowing, it gets special priority now at the front of the border. The color is unrivaled.
My favourite dogwood – and daisies! It’s a vase of cheer!
Thank you, Chris. Our Kousa is spectacular this year!
Your vases make Mondays one of my favorite days!
Aw, thanks so much, Catherine! 🙂
Uncontrolled is good! (As is blue & white & silver!)
Hehe, story of my life. 😉 Thanks!
Beautiful arrangements and flowers Eliza! Brightened my Day!
Glad to know that – thanks, Reed!
Uncontrolled beauty 🙂
I like that thought! Thanks, Andrea. x
A little wild, but all such beauties.
Thank you, Alice!
These flowers are beautiful.
Thank you, Anne. Much appreciated!
The flowers and vase together are perfect.
Many thanks, Sandy!
Welcome, Eliza.
That is one sharp arrangement! Or, should that be “wicked sharp.” 😉
🙂 Thank you, Laurie! x
Gorgeous Eliza! 😍
Aw, thanks much, Julie!
Your colour scheme works wonderfully well – you were picking by instinct!
🙂 Thanks for the vote of confidence, Sue!
They work well together, especially in the lovely vase. The arrangement brings a shot of summer to a wintry evening here, so thank you.
Thank you, Carol. Hope it helped warm your evening. 🙂
Lovely display Eliza, I love the Daisy popping its friendly head up.
Thank you! Daisies are so winsome.
The actual vase itself is a joy, and looks like glass rather than porcelain. Is the speedwell really that startling bright blue? It’s astonishing! And you may imply your vase is uncontrolled but the end result works really well – somehow our vases seem to do that sometimes! Thanks for sharing, Eliza
Thank you very much, Cathy. Yes, that Speedwell is truly cobalt blue – an amazing and vibrant flower.
Control is overrated sometimes. Thanks for picking the Kousa Dogwoods, I love them and haven’t seen any in years. Well done and mostly blue. Happy Monday.
Thank you, there is so much blooming right now that I have a hard time picking what to feature. Maybe I need to pick a bigger vase!
A bigger vase is the answer.
🙂
Lovely, Eliza. So vibrant!
Thank you very much, Diana!
Beautiful selection for that lovely vase!
Thank you, S!
Eliza, have you ever thought of being a florist? This is beautiful!
Thank you, Carol – what a kind comment! ❤
Ha! That’s exactly why I end up with two or three vases each week – I get carried away. I LOVE that blue Veronica.
Thank you, Kris. That makes sense! 🙂
That Veronica is one of my best garden treasures. I only wish it bloomed longer.
Seeing outside the box is a good thing. 🙂
🙂 Thank you, Judy!
Really enjoy your flowers and photography, every single time!
Thank you, Gary! Do you pick flowers from your gardens to enjoy inside?
Almost every morning!
Nice! 🙂
OMG! It’s BEAUTIFUL!
Thank you!
So pretty Eliza. The Veronica is a beautiful and very intense shade of blue. Mine are paler but I still wish it would flower all summer for me. 😃
Thank you, Cathy. I love Veronica spicata, I have a pink one which does tends to have a long bloom period if I deadhead it. But my V. sp. incana and V. austriaca ‘Crater Lake Blue’, while beautiful and worth growing, have a shorter bloom time.
A wonderful combination of flowers you’ve created Eliza. The Veronica is an incredible hue contrasting the white flower in the foreground. Also love the variety of texture, especially the Lamb’s Ear. Your talent shines through!
Many thanks, Jane! ❤
Just lovely!
Thank you, Fi!
Love that speedwell! And what a perfect vase!
Thank you very much, Indie!
Your created “chaos” is wonderful. to heck with control and trust your soul. it does wonderful things
Stay well and laugh when you can
Thank you for your encouragement! 🙂
Great selection, Eliza. Your supply of blooms is inspiring. My contribution to our flowers are the peonies, spiderworts, and milkweed. Lots of milkweed for a somewhat suburban garden. And, evidenced by your posts, you also have a really nice vase collection. Lovely.
Thank you, Steve. I’ve been collecting vases since high school (eons ago) and have WAY too many, but I can’t bear to part with any of them!
Bursting with so much beauty!
Thank you, Belinda!
Blue and white, such a pretty combination and how lovely it looks in that gorgeous vase.
Thank you, Liz. That vase was a gift from my spouse over 30 years ago. It is still a treasure. 🙂
Your floral artistry and garden delights are pure bliss to witness, Eliza. I especially love the burgundy columbine in the arrangement, the other colors complement it so.
Thank you kindly, Jet! ❤
Nice details Eliza!
Gracias!
