The background almost looks like water. Soon, their brighter, cheerful feathers will appear. They have a special wavy way of flying & such cute little chirpy & chippy sounds.

Sweet bird, Eliza. We stopped feeding the birds after some bear visits and finches are one of the many species I miss seeing. Even though we are in the midst of winter I’ve seen reports of wandering bears due to unusual warmth so there is still a possibility. The birds do well without us but not having them visit the yard leaves a hole in our days.
Thank you, Steve. Because birds give me such pleasure, in ‘bear season’ we take the feeders in at night and put them out in the morning. A bit of a pain, but it is the way we can have our cake and eat it too.
