    Beautiful bird 💕

  2. A perfect background for this goldfinch!

Such a pretty little bird. I love goldfinches!

  4. Anne says:

What a pretty yellow colour it is.

  5. Silent and beautiful. We enjoy birdwatching around our new house every day. We have Talgoxe, Domherre and Magpies (skator.)

  6. jenanita01 says:

I don’t think I have ever seen one of these sweet birds in my garden…

  7. Murtagh's Meadow says:

So is this your American goldfinch? Quite different to the European one – but no less beautiful.

    • Eliza Waters says:

Thank you, Karina. The female remains olive through the year, but breeding plumage for the male is a gorgeous canary gold with black and white trim. Quite the sight!

  8. cindy knoke says:

    Beautiful capture!

  9. Alice says:

The background almost looks like water. Soon, their brighter, cheerful feathers will appear. They have a special wavy way of flying & such cute little chirpy & chippy sounds.

  10. Like a ray of sunshine. 🙂

  11. Love when these little birds visit! Wonderful capture, looks beautiful in that light and background!🙂

  12. dawnbirdau says:

Such a beautiful pic! Love the contrast.

  13. Irene says:

Love everything about this image. The bird is adorable to start with. Then there’s the framing and background. Simply beautiful. 😊

  14. So pretty against the blue sky!

  15. Someone’s looking bright. Spring is coming!

  16. arlingwoman says:

I second Laurie. It’s always good to see a finch, whether gold-, purple, or house…

  17. Sweet bird, Eliza. We stopped feeding the birds after some bear visits and finches are one of the many species I miss seeing. Even though we are in the midst of winter I’ve seen reports of wandering bears due to unusual warmth so there is still a possibility. The birds do well without us but not having them visit the yard leaves a hole in our days.

    • Eliza Waters says:

Thank you, Steve. Because birds give me such pleasure, in ‘bear season’ we take the feeders in at night and put them out in the morning. A bit of a pain, but it is the way we can have our cake and eat it too.

  18. Very Nice Eliza! Very colorful against the blue background!

  19. Val Boyko says:

The finches are getting their yellow on early this year … spring must be in the air. Lovely capture Eliza 💛

  20. Robert says:

One beautiful lone birdie! Great shot!

  21. Kris P says:

Wonderful photos, as usual! The lesser goldfinches are very active here at the moment. Their common name is presumably due to their relatively petite size but I think they need a better one!

  22. Widdershins says:

Nice ‘stillness in action’ shot. 🙂

  23. Beautiful little bird! Lovely image..

  24. Cathy says:

Such a lovely photo Eliza! 🙂

  25. Gorgeous colours and a very sweet bird!

  26. Maria says:

    Beautiful! Great sky!

  27. Deepa says:

Wow . What time of the day did you shoot it Eliza. Loved the bird and the background. Just perfect.

  28. Jet Eliot says:

Wonderful and wintry photo of the goldfinch, Eliza. They’re so often in the browns and golds of fields, so this cold blue background gives it an extra flair.

  29. His yellow color is lit beautifully and works so well against the blue background!

  30. A beautiful photo Eliza, I love the yellow of the bird against the blue background.
