With the abundance of flowers available in my garden right now, it is hard to stop at creating just one vase, so today, I’ll showcase three. All too soon, my gardens will be knocked down by frost, so I’m relishing them while the parade of blooms lasts.
The first features pink Phlox (P. paniculata), Zinnias (Z. elegans ‘Cactus’ and ‘Swirls’) and pink and white Spider Flowers (Cleome hassleriana). A few stems of purple Mealycup Sage (Salvia farinacea) and white Flowering Tobacco (Nicotiana alata) complete it.Moving on to yellow and orange, this vase features two different sunflowers (Helianthus annuus ‘Ivory Queen’ and a birdseed volunteer), yellow and orange Cosmos (C. sulphureus), orange Zinnia ‘Cactus’ and purple Angelonia angustifolia for accent.
Lastly, a small antique crackle vase filled with Cosmos sulphureus. I find their sunny faces so cheering.
I’m linking to Cathy’s In A Vase on Monday post at Rambling in the Garden. Click to see what vases other gardeners the world over have created from their gardens this week.
Just lovely Eliza.
Thank you, Cindy!
Those yellow and orange cosmos are new to me. Sunny faces, indeed!
Thanks, Audrey! They are sturdier than the pink ones. They’ve definitely won a place in my garden. 🙂
Love them all, you’re right to enjoy them while you can.
Many thanks, Christina.
Such happy sunny vases.
Thank you, Sandra. 🙂
They are amazing, especially the last one…. Lovely!
Thank you, Amittras!
Beautiful vases Eliza, all three of them – so lovely to enjoy these flowers before the seasons change 🤗💖🌻 xxx
Thank you, Xenia. It’s hard to believe summer is almost over. :(`
Beautiful, Eliza!
Many thanks, Steve!
It is a joy to have blooms to pick in every colour of the rainbow. All three vases are so pretty.
Thank you very much, Chloris!
That first vase is stunning, Eliza… I love those spider flowers!
Thank you very much, Anita, and for reblogging, too!
Reblogged this on anita dawes and jaye marie.
YET AGAIN ANOTHER FANTASTIC BLOG ELIZA, SO COLOURFUL, CHINA
Thank you kindly, China, and for reblogging!
Reblogged this on LIVING THE DREAM.
All three beautiful! I, too, am trying to fully appreciate every last precious day in the garden Winter is awfully long!
Indeed. This is when I’m definitely ‘gathering the rosebuds while I may!’ 😉
All the arrangements are so colouful. How awesome it is to celebrate nature’s bounty through flowers! Makes one want to dance!
It does indeed. 🙂 Thanks, Liz!
Really stunning arrangements.
Thank you, Sylvia!
They are all 3 so happy & pretty. ‘Volunteers’ are surprising & interesting. Angelonia is such a pretty flower, have been buying/using them in pots for several years, one is pink, just keeps growing.
Thank you, Alice. I’m impressed with Angelonia, it is a real workhorse in the garden, and pretty to boot!
Wedgewood Blue & Angelface Perfectly Pink, both doing very well.
All three arrangements, and the three containers, are so beautiful! I’ve not had much luck with Cosmos but seeing these – I may try again.
Thank you, Chris! I find these sturdier than the pink, and look great in a group (mine are with white cleome, next year, I’ll add blue bachelor buttons). However, the flowers must be picked just opened, as they go over fast.
What an amazing supply of flowers you have Eliza and they all look so fresh. You must be getting lots of rain there and I’m sure the cooler temps of New England help too. Your vases are beautiful and it’s hard to decide which I like best, but I must go with the pinks, purples, and blues. My favorite colors in the garden. Happy Labor Day Weekend!
Thank you, Cindy. I’m pretty fond of that one myself. 🙂
We end up getting rain from the midwest, as well as the south, so most summers we manage to get enough. Drought is stressful when it happens!
Triple loveliness! I can see why you couldn’t stop with just one.
Thank you, Laurie. Not to mention the ones I didn’t post. 😉
Tee-hee!
You really have a nice variety of flowers.
Thank you! I planted lots of annuals this spring so I could pick to my heart’s content. A formula I will continue in the years to come. 🙂
It is a good plan.
At first I thought, oh that pink and blue one! Then I saw the helianthus, then the cosmos! I’d like all of them in my house. My flowers are getting seedy from the heat and dryness. It’s hard to find a nice full bouquet’s worth. I may rip them out to make space for fall crops. But first I’ll see if I can get a vase or two.
Thank you, Lisa. I dislike having to say goodbye to my garden, but once it gets ratty-looking, one must grin and yank! 😉
Gorgeous vases. 😊
Thank you, Irene!
These are wonderful. I love the last one especially.
Thank you, Susie.
A wonderful trifecta of color, Eliza!
Thank you, Sandy!
Welcome!
Such beautiful flowers and the bouquets are wonderful. (Suzanne)
Thank you, Suzanne!
Beautiful! I was out working this morning doing some of those things on my fall chore list. I looked around and thought except for my hanging baskets, there’s not much left blooming except phlox and Knockout roses. You have a much better selection. 🙂
Thank you, Judy! I planted a lot of annuals this year so I’d have buckets of blooms, which I love seeing, arranging and giving away to friends. Too bad you don’t live closer, I’d send you home with a bouquet. 🙂
How lovely to be able to showcase an abundance of blooms like this – and the orange vase is a great asset for the bright and sunny blooms in your second vase. In fact I realise I also have 3, still having some of the zinnias from last week plus some sweet peas I cut yesterday evening. I hope you can enjoy your blooms for many more weeks before you have your first frosts
Thank you, Cathy. That is my hope as well.
So pretty and cheery!
Thank you, Fi!
You amaze me, Eliza, for here I am with most of my flowers gone and here you are with these incredible blooms. Wow, just wow!! My roses are flowering the best they have all year, so I have that going for me, but the rest? Done. You are an incredible gardener!! xo
Thank you very much, Amy! Part of it is planting annuals for late season blooms, but with planning, one can have some perennial in bloom from April to October. Of course, it helps to have lots of land in which to put them. 😉 I’ll be sending you seed soon. ❤
Oh goody!! I was just whipping around inside my house lately attempting to get all in order so I can flip the page to focus on getting into my gardens. Whew! I dared Hubby to just step into my shoes …. he doesn’t want to. LOL
Wonderful expressions ❣️
Thank you, Val!
I’m glad that I’m not the only one to go a little crazy with floral arrangements this week (although I suppose it could be argued that I’ve been crazy for some time). All your creations are lovely but I adore that second vase. It had me smiling the moment I saw it. I’ve got to find more room for sunflowers next year and perhaps stagger my seed sowing – mine seem to be blooming at the same time this year. I’m also wondering why I never see the yellow and orange Cosmos for sale in nurseries here, while the pastels are plentiful. I’ll have to hunt down some seeds.
Thank you, Kris. One can never have too many arrangements! 😉
I ended up with 3 plantings of sunflowers, one by nature (volunteers) and 2 by me. The black oil volunteers are smaller, but perfect for cutting. I will send you some Cosmos seeds, I have tons. Can I mix them or would you prefer separate orange and yellow?
Wonderful flowers and the arrangements really show them off!
Thank you, Leah!
So beautiful!
Thank you, Belinda!
I love the orange and yellow.
Thank you, it’s become a favorite.
They are all lovely Eliza. I am always impressed with your Nicotiana as mine looks tatty during the day! I suppose some shade might help. Cleome are so pretty too and I must grow some of those next year.
Have a great week!
Thank you, Cathy. My Nicotiana close up from about 10 to 4, but will stay open inside the house. Planting them in part shade might help, but at the expense of number of blooms as they love sun. The new hybrids I’ve noticed stay open all day, but have no scent. That must have been a feat for the breeder!
Omygosh, Eliza, all three of these are so beautiful, what a gift flowers are to us! ❤
Thank you, Julie. Flowers are my life! 🙂 Life would be so dull without them.
These are exquisite Eliza. Your arrangements have the appearance of simplicity yet attain a perfect balance in form and colour.
Thank you very much for your lovely comment, Carol. 🙂
Each one so beautiful, Eliza. ❤
Thank you kindly, Donna!
All three are beautiful, magic late summer colour
Thank you, Karina!
Beautiful selection of flowers in every vase!🙂 Wonderful photos and arrangements, especially the stunning cosmos!🙂
Thank you! 🙂
Did you feature Cosmos sulphureus earlier? I saw it somewhere, for the first time in many years. It is a flower that could be more common (here) than it is now. You got some real nice ones again. I think I like the last one best, but I should not pick a favorite.
Thank you, Tony. This is the first year I’ve grown them in decades. They perform for me better than the pink species.
That is sort of what I remember. They really should be more popular than they are.
Thank you so much for letting us enjoy your marvelous flowers! It sure put a golden frame to my morning 🙂
Thank you, Maria, glad to know that. 🙂 Have a great weekend ahead.
Your talents in the garden and flower arranging are magnificent, Eliza. You always have such lovely vases, too. I really like that first arrangement for the color contrasts and especially the clever variety of textures. Thanks for sharing your prolific garden and talents.
Thank you so much, Jet, your compliments are much appreciated!
Great colors Eliza!
Thank you very much, Maria. 🙂
Beautiful!
Thank you!
It’s fun how how different vases affect the “mood” of an arrangement.
So true. Thanks for sharing your observation, Sheryl.
Just stunning! Vases full of happiness.
Thank you, Adele!
We’re finally experiencing a much needed rainfall but still, your beautiful arrangements warm my heart with their summer colours! Thank you so much for stopping by, it’s about time I returned the favour…
Thank you, much appreciated!
Each bouquet is a visual delight, Eliza. You have such an eye for color and texture, creating such inviting combinations. Thanks for my moment of beauty! 🌺
Thank you very much, Jane. I appreciate your lovely compliments!
Beautiful flowers and arrangement 🙂
Thank you!
