Corn in MA? I didn’t know!
Love that last shot, with the hills & turning leaves behind.

    • Eliza Waters says:

Thank you, Micheal. The colors are peaking around now.
Our few remaining dairies (there used to be dozens) grow their own cow corn, ground to silage for fodder.

      • MK says:

So the corn is for the cows! Yet another case of I didn’t know that either. The ignorance of a city girl πŸ™‚ ! I love these rural scenes. Looks like heaven to me.

      • Eliza Waters says:

        Country heaven, yes!
Funny story: this field is across the river from me (can’t see it though) and for several years, EVERY year, I’d hear the tractor and chopper and would think “I should go get a picture of that” but never did. This year, I heard it and said, “THIS year is it.” I get in the car and drive around to the bridge and back to the field. I turn around, park, get out and they are finishing for the day and leaving (what?!!). They don’t cut it all at once for some reason. So back home I went. Next time I heard it, I go AT ONCE and get the shots. Whew. YEARS in the development, lol!

    Oh, these are beautiful Eliza.

  3. Alice Pratt says:

It would be interesting to know more…looks like the whole plant is being shredded, or is the corn somehow separated?

  4. Robin says:

Wonderful set portraying harvest season. πŸ™‚ We’re past that here which is probably a good thing since we finally got some rain overnight. 1.5 inches. Yay!

  5. Laurie Graves says:

Wonderful autumn scene. “We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.”

  8. Kris P says:

Harvest time! Even farm machinery in your part of the country is photogenic!

  9. That corn is so green to be harvesting it! Ours is practically brown before they get it out of the fields.

  10. Karen says:

    Great set of shots Eliza!

  11. Sally says:

Beautiful scenes of Fall harvesting. It’s amazing how beautiful the most common daily tasks can be.

  12. Wonderful photo series!πŸ™‚

  13. Brian Skeys says:

They are in the process of harvesting it here also. The cows love it.

  14. Joanna says:

those are great pictures! We don’t see many cornfields around here. The potato harvest is almost finished here, I think.

  15. Rebecca says:

    Lovely photos, Eliza xo

  16. Gee, the cornfield looks so familiar…great shots, m’dear!

  17. Amazing how farmers are able to de-husk the corn, leaving the entire stalk behind. Just amazing, Elisa! Love your images! πŸ’

  18. Thanks for teaching us through beautiful photos! All the cornfields in our county, and I’ve not taken the time to observe its harvest.
